Best place to start is with the Guides available to you on this site.

Have a quick read through What Is DVD and then move on to convert.

If you see terms you're unfamiliar with use the Glossary.

Any specific questions as you're learning, post again with that question.

Lots of reading to do. Get cosy.

    Good luck. Have fun. :c)
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  5. you can use TMPGEnc to convert the avi to MPEG2 (use the DVD NTSC template) u can get a free trial, MPEG2 enabled for 30 days, but youll have to use guides to deal w/ audio, and to make sure it fits, adjust quality, etc.

What don't you understand? You need to be a lot more specific about your problem. If there's a term in the guide you don't know, check the glossary over to your left. If you don't understand the guide, then tell us exactly what it is that's throwing you off. If you're looking for a one-click program that will take your avi and make it into a DVD, you probably aren't going to find it - *especially* if you're working with files that you downloaded. DVD's are *not* super-easy to make and *will* require a little work on your part (no matter what the box your burner came in says.) Do a little more reading and let us know where you're stuck - then you'll get more precise answers.

  7. download dvd2svcd
    download divx codec pack
    download xvid codec

    purchase TMPGENC,CCE, or procorder

on misc. tab, press avi radio button
    check mark advanced tab
go to frameserver tab, click dropdownbox and select dvd resolution (better off trying CVD one though)
click on encoder tab and select the encoder you purchased and locate the path to it
    click 1 pass CBR
click tab next to misc tab and open avi file
    click run and then OK
    wait XXXXXX hours

    purchase dvd authoring program

pull in resulting mpegs into program

    author

    burn on dvd burner

    watch

    First read this guide:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm

Then go here and read on how to author DVD

    https://www.videohelp.com/author.htm#dvd

Come back and ask questions (After you have read and tried it once) if you run into problems.
