Hi all,
i have a plextor 24/10/40A and have burned countless numbers of CDRs . however, was recently have way through burning a CD anfd had to re set the computer. this seemed to have disturbed my CDRW drive and it now takes twice as long to burn a CDR! it used to burn a whole cd in 4 mins, but now it takes 8! i remember having had this problem a few times before and a simple reinstall of windows fixes it. however, i dont want to go through all this hastle again.
when burning iwth nero i can see the burnewrs buffer level is constantly flucuating from 98% to 10%, which would explain the change in burning time. i have tried reinstalling the IDE drivers (im using win xp so just uninstall in device manager & restart PC) but this hasn#'t helped. i have also physically removed the drive having uninstalled the drivers, booted, shut down and then reconnected the drive but this hasn't helped either! anywayone have any ideas? any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

defrag ?, are you only running your burning program ?, is this happening in all burning progs or just 1 ?

tried defrag, doesn't help, using Nero- havn't tried it with others but have uninstalled/reinstalled it, happens with several or just nero running, im running a 2500+ so unlikely to be CPU intensive! thanks all the same man!
