  1. Hello, I'm in the process of getting rid of my VCR. Right now, I need a simple way to author DVD compliant MPEG-2 files to burn onto a DVD-R/W. I haven't been able to find anything for Windows to do this for me. Linux is an option, but currently that's installed on a different machine than my DVD Burner.

    Any advice is appreciated!!!

    Thanks,

Well there are a bunch of simple easy-to-use authoring programs. I recently started using TMPGEnc DVD Author (not to be confused with TMPGEnc which is the MPEG-1/MPEG-2 encoder) and I find that it is very simple and easy to use yet allows for more flexability than say the more hold-your-hand programs such as Ulead DVD Movie Factory or NeoDVD etc.

The program is only something like $70.00 and has a free 30-day trail period. I'm still in my trail period but I'll have to break down and buy it/register it when the time comes. I like it that much even though I have the other two programs I mentioned as well as SpruceUP (easy not not flexable).

  3. Sorry about that, I put it in the subject, but forgot to mention it in the message. I'm actually hoping to find some sort of command-line authoring program for Windows. My plan is to automate the whole process, recording, authoring & burning.

    Thanks,

There was a very recently created new forum here for Programming. Maybe you should watch what's going on in that.

As for me - I am keeping well clear of it. :cD

Thanks a lot, you put me on the right track! The Programming forum is exactly what I needed. I guess that's what I get for not paying attention...
