can anyone lend me hand in finding some really cool neat looking pics that fit within the range specified for them avatar things?

I am so new to this whole forum thing that i'm beyond lost. ty

Here's a site that has some...I recommend creating your own. Just find a picture you like, go to a image editing software and make it 80X80 pixels and save as a jpeg.

I like Family Guy. So does devanshu. Hence, character avatars.

Actually the original of that avatar was over twice our allowed size. Took a little Photoshop action to make it fit. Sadly I only have a VERY old mac version of it up here so it was kinda a pain.

Does anyone else do the same thing I do. When I see an avatar, for some reason I think that the person looks like it. Or at least has characteristics that they share with what's depicted in the picture. Anyone else do that??

Craig falls under the characteristics catagory. Chewie is big and strong, and Craig appears to be the same.

Brian is weak and small in the Breakfast Club, and so am I. Plus we both have really bad hair styles.

I think the choice of avatar says something about the personality of the member. Do we dare venture into that territory?

I think I'm more likely to think the opposite.
Unless people are so vain as to think they're lovely looking and include a current pic of themselves, they're more likely to pick a picture that reflects how they want to be portrayed, and ultimately viewed by others (albiet strangers).
I wouldn't want to give examples for fear of offending (and everyone knows I'm not that sort, right? Far be it from me to risk offending anyone, I'd rather cover every angle and be friends with absolutely everyone) but maybe Craig has a problem, based on my theory!
Of course some are doing this, some aren't, some just reflect their username (lordsmurf) and others their hobby (zzyxxx) and others just get on with helping and don't even have an avatar.

Maybe I should include a different picture as my avatar, and test the theory.

A while back there was a thread where a lot of people explained their choice of avatars. Mine was completely different at the time and was for a different reason.

I think it's where I found out I am Dave's was not a broken pipe like I thought it was. :cD

Then would it be safe to say that most avatars carry characteristics of the user??

Rather it's what they like/dislike/wish they were/currently are/description/self portrait...etc. That most avatars represent some aspect of the user and isn't just a random picture.

My avatar is a picture from a science article. I enjoy pure science and like to read about all the neat new things that are being tried.
My member status '3rd::Citizen' is a combination of many things. First, Will made a jab at me and I answered back that I guess I was a second class citizen. Baldrick piped in and said I was a third class citizen.
Since I am a software engineer, I used C++ terminology.

3rd = Third
:: = Class designator
Citizen = method

Hmmm. My first was to remind my husband of a bet I won and what the reward was. My second was a little alteration of the first (we ALL remember those alterations, don't we??!!) and my current is from a movie credit and my favorite tee shirt.

So, I guess it doesn't always work.

I just happened upon Larry one day and started Photoshoping all the picts I liked. I think I have 4 or 5 now that I rotate through. As for the statement like "chick magnet" or "shockingly good" well .... let's not go there in a public forum

My member status is one of two things.

It has smoething to do with a line from my movie avatar or a song from my music avatar.

Or if I piss someone off I say [Username]'s friend or pal or something like that.

For me, it's quite obvious. That is me on the bike. My previous was an animated GIF i made out of video fotage of me racing. So my avatars reflect my interests and hobies.

I'm thinking about using my new dog in my avatar, but I'll have to create a new user name. After all racer-x won't go too well.

Well, as far asmember status/avatar, it was borderline. My avatar is the Flying Dutchman, the captain of a ghost ship forever cursed to try and make it around the Cape of Good Hope.

OK - way off of avatars.. but is that where you get your ear pierced when you go 'round? Or was that just invented for movies or I'm thinking of the wrong place altogether?
