  1. Hi,
Recently I have been experiencing major problems with dvd2avi. It starts out ok then after a random amount of time it just freezes. Well, basically the whole system just crashes and i have to reset the machine. I have not changed any settings on dvd2avi and nothing is running in the background. It is really doing my head in as i cant backup any of my new dvds. I use win xp pro and have most updates but not all as my update never works so i have to do it manually. Er, any other info as how the problem can be rectified - let me know...

    1) Reboot
    2) Uninstall DVD2AVI
    3) Reboot
    4) Delete folder is still present
    5) Suspend Virus scannner, Re-install with version.......(no idea what the current stable build is)
    6) Reboot

Version 1.76?? was stable as I recall, but older versions may not be XP compatable.

More than likely what has happened is you are in 'DLL Hell' where some app/program has changed a DLL or DLL version that's causing an issue. Also see if your out of disk space (empty trash can and norton protected files if your useing that).

    Defrag may help also.

  4. I think it is DLL hell. The reason being was that i just tried nero 6 to create a vcd from some mpegs that i had. And it did the system crash thing. Nothing works. So i figure it must be some sort of DLL thing but if only i knew. Any ideas, help???

Reboot, uninstall Nero, reboot. Then try DVD2avi. If it crashes uninstall, re-boot, and re-install. If it still crashes then something is left over.

Typically it's a newer DLL not getting deleted. ou can try some of the registry cleaner programs that drill down ad look for this sort of thing (dll conflicts).

  6. If you download these MPEGs they might be PAL and giving you problems. I had 28 days later (PAL) about a month ago and could never get it to work right. All the programs I tried kept locking up and crashing my computer. Nothing would convert it correctly to NTSC without causing sync problems or crashing. So I gave up and waited til it came out on DVD.
