Can someone please explain the following:

I did the vcd header trick on a mpeg-2 file of 824megs, but after the simple multiplex the file got over 1gig, while normally it gets smaller then the source file.

    Did I overlook something?

    Grtz,

    Don

    Doesn't anyone has any ideas?

Maybe too litle info. here's what I did:

    1) downloaded the movie as bin/cue file.
    2) used daemon tools to extract the mpeg file
    3) used tmpgenc tools to multiplex the mpeg file
    4) result a file much larger then the source

I did lots of conversions like this before, but this one just doesn't work.

    Still hoping for suggestions....

When you used tmpgenc tools to multiplex the mpeg file did you set prog type to 'MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard)' ?

  6. You should probably do "VCD MPEG (non-standard" or something like that....

Then TmpGenc will pad the data stream to the VCD standard bitrate of 1150kbps. Do as mujahid7ia suggests and set it MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard)
