  1. Hi,
I have an older P111500 on my network which I will be using a DVD writer on. The MOBO is a Intel Seattle 2 with an ATA33 controller. The system also has an ATA100 Promise card for video drives, as well as firewire. (USB 1 only)
I have three options for connectivity: Firewire, ATA100, or the DMA33 on board controller. The ATA100 is not a preference as it is pretty used up. I will probably use the firewire with an external writer, but my question is this: Excluding the limits of the processing power of this system, would there be a difference in the performance of the writer between using the Firewire, and the DMA33 controller, if I choose to install an internal unit? In other words, would a DMA33 controller necessarily be a bottleneck for read-write speads of any drive or media, or is the unit independent of this? Also, if I would use the ATA100 card, are there any known issues? Thankyou.

DMA33 is perfectly fine for any dvd writers out now -- performance would be the same as firewire ..
