I downloaded the trial version of MovieFactory and burned a DVD which I played on a DVD player and TV. The audio was flat and the TV showed PCM audio. Is there a way of changing this to regular audio...
Thanks...

? "regular audio" ? You only have a couple of choices for DVD. A few if you live in a PAL country.
Have a read on What Is DVD on the top left. That shows what you can and can't have.
You could work with the audio to improve it before re-authoring and burning. But best to get an idea of what it is and why before going down that path. There's no place like 127.0.0.1

When I said regular audio I meant MPEG audio...like you get when you play a commercial DVD. Is there something in the authoring process using Movie Factory where I can specify the type of audio.
The audio properties of the mpeg-2 file I'm using are:
mpeg audio layer 2 files
213m samples
44100 mhz, 16 bit, stereo
layer 2
bit rate 256 kbps -
You show me a commercial DVD with mpeg audio and I will show you a very rare beast indeed! I am not saying they don't exist, just that they are very uncommon. Most commercial DVd's use Ac3 audio, some use PCM. The DVD specs say that a DVD must contain at least one audio track of either PCM or Ac3. Mp2 support was, until very recently, required in europe but not in N. America. Because of this, very few commercial DVD's use mp2.Originally Posted by otown47
As Gees said, check the quality of the audio before encoding or authoring. MF converting it back to PCM should have little to no effect on its quality.
Ah, just noticed, you said,
Thats your problem. DVD requires all audio to be at 48khz sample rate. Perhaps the MF2 sample rate converter is not the best. I suggest you convert the audio to 48Khz using BeSweet. And yes, I believe MF can be made to accept mp2 audio, provided it is DVD compliant (i.e, 48khz).44100 mhz, 16 bit, stereo
Hope this helps.
