This is a general computer question, not necessarily about video editing, converting, decoding, encoding, etc. I have windows xp home edition, and whenever i click shut down, restart, or whenever a program just finished installing and says "Do you wish to restart" and i click yes. There is a great deal of lag between when i click restart, shutdown, or yes (in the installation case), and when it actually does so. It take about 5 minutes before it actually restarts, and it's not just every now and then, it always happens. I just formatted too, so idon't know what the problem could be, before it worked fine and then messed up, and after formatting it is still messed up. any suggestions?

maybe the problem is in the hardware ?
try to take out your pci cards one by one and see if it helps.
might be a crappy modem or something like that.HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE -
NO most likely a software that you have installed that is giving problem to XP . When window executed shutdown it will save your setting before doing so.but in your case it may have a problem with one of software that is running in the background. Try to disable temporarily all the programs that windows loaded up on starting and then one by one enabled the program that is been loaded. This will nailed the bad one.
Problem solving is always a trial and error thing. Try it I could be wrong.
