    I'm pretty new to the vid scene and was trying to catch up on some of the basic concepts. Could you guys point me to some good info on what the differences, (dis)advantages, of progressive, field a/b, and other items in this category? aka what they are, how they're used and when.

    you could try www.100fps.com as a starting point
    interesting read - nicely laid out with pretty pics and all
    and then go from there
