  1. I'm looking to purchase a new dvd player. I want to spend less than $100.00. Options I'm looking for is for it to play dvd+r, svcd, and vcd. I have an older apex now that plays everything I throw at it but it just looks horrible. Any input would be great!!!

I also have an Apex, but I also have a Norcent DP-300. It plays DVD+-R/RW, MP3 on CD or DVD, MPG1-2 (without authoring), JPEG, VCD, SVCD. It is also region-free and Macrovision-free. It just doesn't have component output. Saw it lately for 69$ at Wal-mart (canadian, so about 10$ in the US )

There's a big database of player info with owners' comments - to the left in DVD Players.

Even if the model you choose is not region free, a hack may be listed that you can try - here and elsewhere. :c) So you may not have to rule those out.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Very good picture. PAL & NTSC. Code free (with hack). The only one thing it doesn't play is DVD RAM.

    JVC with number 50 & 55 (@Video Only for $79.99 after rebate)
Very good looking (works great also). Multisystem.

I picked up the JVC XV-N50 for $109.00 and got a $20 rebate to boot. This plays any burned -r or +r I've tried. Extremely pleased with this player and Highly reconmended this player. Nice remote that controls the tv funtions too.[/b]

  11. No doubt, yamakawa 215, read everything you put in it, less than $55, dolby digital decode inside. Output to AC3 speakers or mixdown output to dolby prologic or stereo audio.

    Great value.

    contras:

mechanical on/off, no display in panel, it has display on screen

I have one, and it is wonderfull.

Go to dvd player list here.

    www.yamakawa.de

There you can find a USA web.
