I tried your divx on VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod.
Garbled screen only happens it you try to playback the Input file (playback sign with I mark) not the Output file (playback sign with O mark). You can save to avi either with Divx compression or uncompressed with no problem. When you playback the resulting avi, it does not give you garbled screen anymore.

    UV7 play your divx fine.

FulciLives as for extra features GMC, Q-Pel, B-VOP. versions 3.11, 4.x and 5.x (without QPEL); v5.x GMC support requires Xcard driver v2.0 or later but XviD made file can be a of pain in a@@
The B-frames play smooth with the 2.1 drivers.
Yes it did get a bad rap over DivX playback mostly becuase of DivX 3.11 which I though very unfair by min HARD NOSE Review and User crying like bunch bady at first win told up front there was no support for 3.11 at the time so down play it which I though was load **** but that me.
Yes it look good on my 27" RCA TV

Thanks for filling me in ... I have the feeling that the Xcard probably does a better job than most of those stand alone DivX enabled DVD players hehehe

Tis a shame these days most people seem to have no idea what the Hollywood Plus or Xcard is ... I use my Hollywood Plus to test my CCE and TMPGEnc MPEG-2 DVD encodes ... saves me the trouble of burning a DVD-RW or DVD+RW just to test a clip. Not to mention the quality of output is better than that of any video card TV output.

Yup... Hollywood Plus comes handy for trying out ATI capped mpeg2 as well, although the DVD station software that comes with it is not the greatest when it comes to fast forward and rewind mpeg files.

SHS have you ever tried Eugene DVD player found here:
    http://eugene777.da.ru/ with Hollywood Xcard
It works with Hollywood plus and it's got a built in remote control support for dvd navigation.

Do you think the remote control hardware for Hollywood Plus can work with Hollywood Xcard with DVD station and remote software of Hollywood Xcard?

Essentially, are they using the same remote hardware?

Manokat that player will work but it will not make full use of REALmagic Xcard beside it old of date the Xcard has nice GUI.
It come with a Remote when buy the Xcard so you do need one and yes it same Remote.
Keep in mind that the Xcard dosen't have a Windows Mode like the Hollywood Plus which mean it Full screen only unless you use VIP and Video card that has VIP thoses are older Video card that has VIP this will give you Windows mode but this only work with some older ATI up to Rage Pro and some 128 and nVidia up to GF3 that have the Port.
The good news there lot more 3rdparty support for Xcard then Hollywood Plus every had other then lack of Linux support.
TV support that have OSD support JovrPlay, GBPVR or no OSD support SageTV, BeyondTV: Note only JovePlayer fully support Encryption DVDs disc the other will be NoN Encryption DVDs under Xcard DirectShow Filter you Home DVD Made Disc.

I guess I should have read the specs on sigmadesign web before asking if the remote is the same.
Got two Hollywood Plus Cards here. Purchased the first one in 1998 when DVD player was relatively costly. At that time the remote was not available. The following year I bought another one, again no remote yet. Couple of months later I bought the remote. So now I got two Hollywood Plus cards and one serial remote.

Hollywood Plus uses the same video chip as many DVD player nowadays, the AD7XX70/75 .That is why the quality is way better than any TV out of video card out there. But since it is just mpeg1/mpeg2 decoder, it can't play Divx.

Right now not sure if Hollywood Xcard or DVD Divx player is to get. But I heard LiteON 2001/2002 Divx/DVD player has the same chipset as the Hollywood Xcard.

  7. Any fix for the "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format." Even though I can play back the MPEG-1 layer 2 audio in DivX player, VirtualDub can't transcode it to MP3. I captured with the Plextor PX-TV402U using the GoCap2.0 program.

Boy this post was long left unreplied until now.

OK. If you upgrade your Creator2, you should be able to capture MP3 audio Divx. A guy on DIVX forum mentioned that for US $15 you could upgrade your Creator2.

My Lite-On LVD-2001 CAN NOT play back MPEG layer 2. So upgrade to MP3 is the only option.

Have you tried the latest VirtualDub?

  9. The same problem occured with the MP3 streams after purchasing the MP3 update from InterVideo. Turns out you can fix the audio by reMuxing the AVI file with AVIMux_GUI. Check out this thread:
