  1. I am trying to create a DVD-R with Ulead DVD Workshop SE. I generated a MPEG2-IBP file in Premiere 6.0, which produced a 2.9 GB avi video file, and a 900 MB WAV audio file. The video file has a duration of 1 hour 20 minutes.

My problem is that, when I import it in DVD Workshop, it will only read the first 55 minutes of the file and won't let me read the rest. However, when I open the video file in Media Player, it reads the full 1 hour and 20 minutes.

This is the second time this happens. I created another video that was about 2 hours, and only 55 minutes made it on the DVD.

I looked through the entire DVD Workshop help file, and on their knowledge base, but couldn't find anything on this.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Is it a 2.9gb .AVI file?

Or is it a 2.9gb MPEG file?

Did you use the MainConcept encoder?

If not, which encoder did you utilize?

I sometimes work with MPEG files that have the following precise video/audio properties:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 704 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4 : 3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8800 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 256 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

How do the specific properties of your source video/audio compare?

  3. IT is a 2.9 gb .avi file, NTSC, 24 Bits, 704 x 480, 29.97 fps.
My audio rate is at 48 Khz

I encoded the movie using the Matrox RT MPEG2 IBP encoder.
The program produces two files: one avi file and one wav file.

I encoded at variable rate, with a max of 6.0 mbps.

And today, I encoded a second file with the same specs. It has a duration of 1 hour 45 minutes in Premiere, and I see the full 1h45 minutes when I play the avi in Windows Player, but when I import it in DVD Workshop, I can only see 1:12 minutes.

I imported the file in DVDitPE, and I can see the whole file in that program. The problem seems to be with DVD WOrkshop.

Yes - the Matrox RT files are problematic with DVD Workshop.

Ulead is aware of the problem.
