  1. I was wondering if I'm stupid or what but MacVCDX doesn't play my menus created with Toast 6 or VCDBuilder burned with Toast 6. I have some VCDs that were created on a PC and MacVCDX shows the menus but they don't actually work right. My best guess is MacVCD has problems with VCD menus. I know it's sad but I don't have a real DVD player to test this on, just my Mac.

    All thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks

  3. MacVCD, VLC and mplayer all play the video fine but the menus do not show up. I guess I can live without the menus on the Mac. Hopefully they show up fine when I get a DVD player. If not, oh well.

I did notice that Toast 6 used a different format for the menus than my other VCDs. Toast 6 uses the SEGMENT folder where as the ones that showed up do not.

    Thanks

Properly authored menus on a VCD will always appear as segment items in the SEGMENT folder. Menus that are just video tracks on a VCD will appear in the MPEGAV folder. MacVCD X will always play video tracks (items in the MPEGAV folder) but ignore items in the SEGMENT folder.

When I author VCDs (especially when I want entrypoints), I use VCDEasy from within the VirtualPC environment. I get a different experience depending on where I'm playing back the disc. On my Mac, I just see video. On a PC, I see the video from within the Sony Videopress software (I author those files onto the VCD). In my DVD player, I get the full VCD experience.

    Just a quick one:
Using VCDBuilder 1.1, the menus do work
    in My RCA 5240P,
( the greatest DVD player known to man! check my reviews if you don't think so!) as well as my brother's Apex.
I have also heard back from friends using Progressive Scan Phillps
and GE settops, and they also can see the menus.
