  1. Could someone please advise

If I want to include 5.1 surround sound do I have to include the ac3 6 channel.
Also does the ac3 2 channel just give conventional sterio

    ? what is DTS

  2. You got it! Dolby Digital (or ac3) is the default sound system for DVD. 6 channel is 5.1 and 2 channel is stereo! DTS is a rival 5.1 sound system to dolby digital which has a higher bit rate and (I think) better quality. It's the best "extra" a disk can have in my opinion. But if you don't listen in 5.1 and have no plans to upgrade, lose it and use the extra space for better picture quality.

    Hope this makes sense, anyway!

    for the help
If I were to only use the 6 channel then, and forget the two channel that would still work and give me just sterio if I didnt have the 5.1 surround sound decoder
