  1. Ok, I have 26 AVI files currently encoded in xvid. I want to re-encode these mpeg2, DVD compliant files to author a DVD. The AVI's are compressed so that they all fit on one DVD, but im noticing that when I tried to use Canapus Procoder to convert them (With the most compressive settings), the best i can do is put 3 episodes on one DVD.

What program is best for reencoding these to DVD compliant DVD's with teh best compression so that i dont have to use more than 2-3 DVD's for the whole series?

    Thanks again

  2. how long are the files? (sounds like a tv series (26 files), but i'm not advocating warez, so I hope it's not) I usually just encode to a xVCD at like 2000 kbps and then author to a DVD using TMPG DVD Author.

I can fit about 12-13 22minute episodes per disk and the quality isn't half bad.

  3. Fansubbed Anime -- unreleased in teh states.

What software are youusing to do that? 13 eps per DVD would be optimal

What im really asking is, what software ar eyou using to convert the AVI to MPEG2 and have control over it to reduce teh bitrate enough to get that many eps on a DVD?

  4. I use TMPGenc to encode at VBR with a minimum of 300, average of 2000 (or whatever it works out to be for your source, just use https://www.videohelp.com/calc and select your ouput as a DVD disk, then put the total time of the episodes plus about 10 minutes for extra padding security), and maximum of 4000.

You will have to first load the VCD NTSC template, then load the unlock template so you can alter the bitrate in TMPGenc.

You SHOULD first convert the audio to a dvd standard of 48000hz using something like Goldwave, and then encode as Elementary Streams (ES) then take the resulting files into TMPG DVD Author, make a snazzy menu, and let it go to work.

to do all this you need 3 programs.
Goldwave to extract and change the frequency of the audio

TMPGEnc, load the video file, load the extracted audio file, load the vcd template, load the unlock template, set your bitrates, make sure it doesn't resample the audio to 44100, set it back to 48000 if you have to.

    And TMPG DVD Author.

  9. Match the MPG bitrate with the bitrate of the AVIs (AVICodec).

An why would you want to do that, avi compression schemes (divx, xvid) are very different in terms of bitrate requirements than mpeg-1 or 2.
