I use cyberlink's Power VCR II to capture tv programs and everything but why does it split the captured program into more then one mpg file.

PowerVCR II has a registry entry "MaxRecSizeMB" which can be tweaked.
The default setting is hex 258 or 600 (decimal) MB. You can set it to what you want.
Make Sure you change it in 2 places.
do a regedit do a find on "MaxRecSizeMB" change the Decimal to what you want do a refind and change the next "MaxRecSizeMB". -
Adding to NYPlayer..go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Cyberlink->PowerVCR and right-click on MaxRecSizeMB and select Modify->Decimal and enter 4300 or whatever.Do the same for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
