    I just paid for a "commercial" version of vcdeasy because I wanted the ability to do chaptering in VCD. Then I got to thinking that I paid $20 just to do chaptering. I use SmartRipper for ripping, DVD2AVI for frameserving, tmpgenc for ending, Nero for burning, so nowhere do I truly need VCDEasy. So what else is VCDEasy good for? I know it can burn the CD, but I have Nero already. Somebody, please, tell me I didn't spend $20 just to put chapter points on a VCD!

    You have interesting priorities.
    I usually decide what something is good for before
    I buy it, instead of after.

    Its good for making (re-encoding, authoring and burning) SVCDs from DVD movies.

    No you don't truly need vcdeasy, but it is probably the best program for creating menus and and other interactive things that you can find out there that will do vcd and svcd. Phillips VCD toolkit is probably better, but it only works for vcds and is a lot harder to learn. If you were to ask me you got a very good deal, that is if you use it.

    @Sam

    It doesn't reencode dvds. It's best for authoring as the burning engine (CDRDAO) is not compatible with some cd-r drives. If you support VCDEasy the author has expressed that he would like to add a better engine like the one in CDRWin, but that costs money.

    Well, I've been doing VCDs for a while but never chaptering so the whole movie is one long chapter. All the how-to guides point to VCDEasy for chaptering and I was very anxious to try it, so I paid the $20 because the trialware has limited functionality. Oh well, now I'll just have to learn to do VCD menus to make it worthwhile!

  6. VCDEasy is the best GUI to VCDImager which is the best S/VCD authoring system.

    It is good for making chaptering, menus, etc., for S/VCDs. If you are keen on authoring S/VCDs, then you didn't make a bad purchase.

    I use VCDEasy for chaptering my VCDs. I really like the Interactivity options.

    I like the way VCDEasy handles clips. You don't need to join them as VCDEasy navigates smoothly from one to the next. When I did this in Nero, I got an annoying beep between clips.

    I use VCDEasy to revert .dat to .mpg when just renaming doesn't work.

    I use VCDEasy to make MPEG stills for my menus.

    I use VCDEasy to burn because I like the musical sound it makes when it finishes. :P
