How can I if at all get my Lite-On LDW-401s to bitset to DVD-ROM? Incredibly it is set to DVD+RW for DVD+R!!!! How that happened I could not tell you, I got it that way but that makes it all but useless to me unless I can get that changed. Is there any way *I dont mind voiding the warranty* that I can get this done? Any help here is greatly appreciated

  3. Hello,

i also own an LDW-401S DVD Burner. My Standalone DVD-Player (Mustek V562) won´t play DVD+RW.
Is there any possible to change the Booktype?

    Greetings Ossi11

    Hi all,

I'm pretty new to DVD writing, so please bear with me if I ask the obvious and/or something discussed before. I DID browse the forum extensively in the last couple of days, so I already have some idea...

Basically, I have the same question as BlackLion did, I also own the LiteOn LDW-401s writer, and was wondering if it's possible to change the bit setting on it. From what I gathered so far, it isn't, but there's always someone who knows a trick or a workaround... I have already tried to do it using Nero 6, DVDInfoPro, DvdBitsetter and the command line utility, all to no avail.

The reason I NEED to be able to do this is because I own a Toshiba SD200E standalone DVD player which has so far refused to play anything I burned using my dvd writer, and from wondering around this extensive site, I gathered I need to be able to change the bit setting for the +rw discs, and then my Toshiba might read them.

The confusing thing also is that my friend burned a dvd+r disc for me which DID play in my Toshiba, but any dvd+r discs I burned don't. I don't know if this is due to the fact that I'm using (probably) bad and cheap media (Bulkpaq - white on top, purple underneath) or because he used his NEC 1100 drive, or neither or both!?!?

I'm really confused and would like to crack this.

    Thanks for any advice/help/opinion.

    V.

I know I'm not supposed to bump my own posts, but I've been patient and waited several days...

Was wondering if Tompika (or anyone else) might be able to help me, as it looks like he helped BlackLion via PM or email.

    Would be very grateful,

    Vlad.

    Could be both...
Both media reflectivity and booktype are important.

I know some Nec1100 burn ROM booktype by default
and theres a bitsetting hack for it on rpc1.org.

Unfortunately LiteOn's current firmwares don't support it.
You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off.
