    What good is it?
I want to back up(pick out) certain parts of a DVD for language training. Classic movie lines that everyone knows from very popular movies and using two languages from the DVD. I keep getting a Copy Protection - error message. Now I'm back to placing the whole DVD on my hard drive with DVDDecrypter...removing Macrovision....STILL get the same message.
    What good is it?

Obviously it's no good for what you're trying to do. But then I can think of a couple thousand other programs that also aren't good for what you want to do. Therefore, what good is any program that won't let you pick out certain parts of a DVD?

I guess the world should just get rid of any computer program that won't do that.

(Actually DVDShrink is very good for shinking a DVD to make it smaller. But if that's not what you want to do then it's no good at all).

  3. Try playing the DVD in something like WinDVD then stopping in after 30 seconds or so, then running DVDShrink. That might work?

  4. I guess BobK never saw this guide

    About the copy protection:
Try other rippers such as Smart ripper
There are other tricks(read the post above) to defeat copy-protections, do a forum search

I saw the guide. You just missed my point. (And even using that guide you can't freely pick out 'certain parts' of the DVD- you're limited to full chapters).

Have you totally missed that Start/End buttom Bob? I have sucessfully done one DVD this way....but supposedly they are identical DVD's(ie...both PAL) to the others that are not being read by DVDShrink.. My computer is PAL(based) also. Why would only one disc work so far in DVDShrink?
Could it be the Region Code?
The one DVD that did work also reads exactly the same copy protection (CSS/CPPM)in DVDDecrypter as these other 4 that haven't worked....I don't get it.
(I used DVDDecrypter the give me info on the DVD's)
