  1. Currenty I have Nero, and Instant copy to burn my DVD's however some times with Nero I have strange error's after I burn.

I just backedup my Lion King DVD2 and when I put it in my DVD player (APEX 1225) The menu comes up, however whenever I select any option for the menu the screen shows the apex logo (like when you turn it on) for a second and then returns to the menu I was at.

I selected DVD-Movie, from the menu, and then coped the files to video, and burned.

    What did I do wrong?

    System info
    Nero 6
Pioneer 106D with hacked 1.07 firmware
    Barton 2500+ @ 2100Mhz
Memorex (richo) 4x DVD+R. Burned at 2.4x to be safer.

Please explain your entire process. Be detailed and include the name of your software too.

Instant copy - Nero not needed, as this has burning built in, although DvdDecrypter is needed for removing CSS.

DVD2One - Buring App (nero) needed as well as DVDDecrypter.

DVDShrink - Burning App needed. DVDDecrypter not needed, but I use it for because it's better than Srinks built in DeCSS method.

  3. OK first I ripped the DVD with DvdDecrypter. I loaded it in DVDshrink and used DeepAnalysis to compress it.

I then loaded it into Instant copy ( the compressed one) and burned it to DVD, With speed set to minimum. And it works.

I then loaded Nero 6, and selected DVD-Movie and set the speed to 2.4x, and loaded all the files from the DVDShrink backup into the Video folder that Nero made and burn the Movie. And I got this problem.

If you need any more info, or I messed something please ask

Thanks for the detail. OK, 1st, why do it again in nero 6, when you were successful with Instant Copy?

I have heard bad things about Nero 6(bugs). I use nero 5.5.10 with no problems.

Do you have an earlier Nero version? If so, can you give that a try?

  5. The reason I did it twice is becuase I always do it twice when I have to compress it a fair bit. The first time I write to a DVD+RW to test the quality, and then when I am happy I write it to a DVD+R.

Maybe I should see if there is an update to Nero, does that sound like a good idea?

  7. I currently have 6.0.0.15, and the only thing I see on thier website is 6.0.0.19.

Is this the latest version, or is there anything newer?

Yeah, I think its the newest version. It's too bad that you can't download and older version for free from Nero since you have already paid for version 6.

  9. I upgraded and it still does not work.

I burned a DVD I Authored with Ulead MovieFactory.

And If I play the first few episodes they work fine. If I play the last episode it freezes, and the second last one plays, but the video starts in the middle on the episode.

If I start the second last episode I am able to skip back to the beginning, and watch the movie fine, and I am also able to skip to the last episode, and watch it fine also.

  10. one of my players doesnt like menus on the dvd-r's, but when i tested it on my other players and friends players it was fine so you should test it on other players. As for nero 6 i have my doubts about its dvd burning.

  11. I re-burned the same DVD again, but this time with InstantCopy. Now the DVD works fine.

I guess I'm just going to get a copy of Nero 5.

  12. I just had the thought,

Could it be because the VOB files are broken up into 1GB files?

Maybe InstantCopy is fixing that, and thats why it works.

Why are you sticking to NERO when InstantCopy does the job for you Don't make life to hard for yourself

  14. Becuase InstantCopy takes over an hour to do its analaysis, and then burn.

With just nero it only takes 30 minutes at most.

have you tried recording in UDF 1.02? This is more compatable with standalone palyers. The default is UDF 1.5 for nero 5.5, I am not sure sure what it is for nero 6.

  17. Shark, The thing is not that is does not play its that for some reason when I record with nero it can't seem to find the Movie files when I select them from the menu.

@FT Shark & jpc82, don't keep your hope up about NERO and being "compatible".

Give DVDDecryptor and IMG tools a shot. There's an extra step, but it's much more reliable than Nero (I happen to use Nero and it works for me, but I like the other method more). Use Daemon tools to mount your image and inspect your work.

Could it be because the VOB files are broken up into 1GB files?
This is expected and normal..The last VOB can be anything up to 1 gig also

Nero 6.0 works for me but I have observed bugs..For example
6.0 NERO EXPRESS, It doesn't even keep the name of the copied disc when you do a direct copy.. the copy is called NEW!
does 0.19 fix this if you know?

  21. I'm testing Img Tools and DVDDecryptor now, and so far it seems a lot better

You're needlessly complicating the process. It can be done in just two easy reliable steps.

    1) Use DVD shrink to to compress the files and put them on your hard drive. NO NEED TO DECRYPT FIRST.

If it isn't compressed enough. Run it through again.

    2) Burn those files to disk. I use NERO 5. Use any burning program that you like. If one program (ie NERO 6) doesn't seem to work just use another one. Don't bang your head against the wall changing the whole process just because you run into a bug in one version of one program.

    Hmmm,

Nero latest version 6.0.0.19, they claim has loads of bug fixes, but I can't seem to find the history section that used to list what was fixed/added in the most recent version. Maybe they removed it from their site, or made it even more awkward to find ?

Personally, I use DVDShrink 3 beta 5 (stable on my set-up WinXP Pro), and Copy2DVD 2.3.9 (or whatever is the latest)

This method is used to backup a DVD, and it plays perfectly on my standalone player

I also use Deep Analysis to squeeze that little bit extra quality out of the backup, and use Copy2DVD to burn, as Nero had/has major problems burning DVD movies with v6.xxxxxx

I got fed up with producing coasters

This method works everytime, Copy2DVD may be a bit slow (but does support user defined burn speeds), but most importantly it actually works without wasting your time producing coasters and costing money in having to try again, and trialing/buying different software
