Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could help me with my dilemma. I have 2 MPEG1 files that are quite large: 777.8 & 814.8 Mb.
When I drop them on MPEG Info, I get this:
File 1:
File 2:Mpeg 1 System File [Video/Audio]
Muxrate : 1.41 Mbps
Estimated Duration: 01:17:59.35s
Size [352 x 288] 25.00 fps 1.15 Mbps
Audio : Mpeg 1 layer 2
160 kbps 44100 Hz
Stereo, No emphasis
These MPEGs are 25fps (perfect for PAL but I need them to be for NTSC).Mpeg 1 System File [Video/Audio]
Muxrate : 1.41 Mbps
Estimated Duration: 01:21:41.55s
Size [352 x 288] 25.00 fps 1.15 Mbps
Audio : Mpeg 1 layer 2
160 kbps 44100 Hz
Stereo, No emphasis
Now, I have 700Mb/80min CDs... how do I burn these MPEGs to discs? Should I combine and then split these MPEGs into 3 files? What's the easiest way of doing that?
Thank you so much!!![/quote]

combine and split?! YES
actually if you did this, and split into 2 you would have 796.3 meg .mpeg which i think will fit onto a 700 meg cdr when you package it as a vcd image.
just try it first, before worrying baout changing from PAL to NTSC.
id use mpgtxwrap to join and split, or ffmpegx
then use VCDToolsX to compose the vcd image
ive said how to do it sooo many times just do a search for it here.
once you have the disk image (.bin/.cue) you just burn it with Toast 6 or MMB or Firestarter FX -
Thanks galactica! Here's what I've done. I've joined the MPEGs and split them into 2 of equal size. Next, I created bin/cue with VCDToolsX and burned it with Toast 6. No problems whatsoever.
But, when I play it in DVD player, I get image that's scrolling up and down all the time and picture is in B/W. Ughh... my guess is that it's the 25fps issue and that I need to convert it to 29.97fps so it's NTSC.
I've tried to create a NTSC VCD with Toast 6 but Toast just says that the NTSC option has been switched to PAL. Damn. Can't do it.
Anyone have any advice what to do next? -
you are 100 percent correct.
however, what dvd player do you have? A lot (well newer ones) will have the ability to support both PAL and NTSC using a button on the remote to switch between the two.
If your palyer doesnt support this, which Hopefully it does, just push the button.
also I have noticed sometimes that with PAL SVCD (and i assume it would apply to VCD as well) that if you burn them with MMB sometimes the dvd player says its NTSC when its really PAL. That could just be me and the late night booze talking but it happens.
to actually change it into NTSC from PAL is a bit beyond me, simply because my dvd player supports both and I never had to do it. but i do remember it being covered one time, so just try a forum search and see what comes up. -
it can be done, however I would wager that you will end up saying "I wish i had just spent 50$ on a dvd player that could play PAL svcd's" because of all the pain and frustration you will have gotten out of the process.
again, i have never actually attempted it, but im speaking from past posts and peoples experience.
