I have tried a number of suggestions posted on the boards working with mpeg-1 VCD compliant files. So far, my latest problem.. I have an mpeg-1 video file and an AC3 audio file. Put the files into DVDSP... everything seems to be accpeted, but now the build disc option is grayed out. Can anyone help me with this... I have tired with a number of other ideas and am attemtping to stay strictly in the Mac environment if at all possible; however, all the approaches I have attempted have given me disc errors within seconds of starting. Thanks for any and all help!

Are you using DVDSP version 1 (inc 1.5) or version 2? I know I recently tried to do MPEG-1 on DVD in version 2, and it tried to re-encode the video. If you're using version 2 but did not install Compressor, that may be why you're getting a greyed-out Build button.

I'm not familiar with your previous problems with the MPEG-1 video ... so I must ask, are they encoded to DVD spec? Did they successfully import into the software, or did you drag-n-drop? Are they CBR or VBR files? Resolution? Framerate?

These files are VCD-compliant mpegs. If I created a VCD with them, it would be flawless. As far as I can tell, everything is within spec.. 29.97 fps... 4:3 aspect ration. I have never used the import function in DVDSP.. I just drag them to the assets window, but they seem to fit. Thanks for any and all help!

is your audio's sampling frequency 48 khz?
lots of mpeg1 have audio at 44.1 khz, which won't work for dvd.
if thats the case, you need to re-encode the audio.
good luck. -
can you preview the disc?
if you cannot preview the disc [not the TRACK] then it isnt set up correctly, which would prevent authoring.
Your files might be correct and to dvd spec, but the disc functions are not correct, ie, A button with no action. Chapters with no story, etc.
Check ALL your disc functions to see if they are correct.
