    Canon elura 40mc with analog digital passthrough. Ulead VideoStudio 7.
    I want to make a quick and dirty batch capture/conversion of some Hi8 to the highest quality mini dv. Should I playback the hi 8 tape through the canon dv camera passthrough and capture as avi on the hard drive and then export to dv camera or should I capture as DV on the hard drive and export it?

    Is there a way to tape the Hi8 camera output to the miniDV camera without the computer? That would be the way to go if possible. Otherwise, I would say capture to your hard drive and let VS 7 output to the miniDV.
