Hi, iv been re-encoding stuff for a while using virutaldub, but lately, suddenly the sound has stopped encoding in virtualdub. When i start the encoding, the status of the encoding shows the video stream encodeing fine but the audio stream always has 0kb in it and when it's finished there is no audio in the file. I am using vituraldub 1.5.5. Can anyone help me get the sound to encode please?!?! Im using the nimo codec pack (the whole of it) if that helps. Thanx.

Hi dozerrox, Have you got it so it only does an new .avi? If not just re do the video and you'll have no sound in it now make a .wav file and when you have done that encode it in tmpgenc and you should have a .mpg file with video and audio in sync and i've heard nemo pack is bad news so i use gordon knots codec pack which as everything you need in it but one off the programms in it you shouldn't install because i had bad news with it couldn't get rid off it can't remember what it is i'll have a look for you. Reply back saying if this works alright. Neil :P

Thanks for the help and sorry 4 my l8 reply. I have the right option selected in ur example tommyknocker, only its source audio in my version of v-dub. Im pretty sure now that its the mp3 codec, however, i either cant find a decent mp3 codec thats easy to install or if i do install one it doesnt help. Is there a way i can remove the existing mp3 codec i hav an use an updated one? if so can anyone recomend a codec please? Or maybe a whole just audio codec pack that would work ok with virtualdub.

    Thanks!

May not help your problem, but I would highly recommend you uninstall that pack and any others.

Packs, are evil & can potentially mess up other programs. Lots of threads about them.

Only download individual codecs as & when you require them.

Friendly advice :c) - in future, I wouldn't install anything, just because someone tells you to, without checking into it first. ie. - searches right on this site.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Get a hold of Gspot and avicodec to identify your files and they indicate which codecs they were made with and whether you have them or not.

There is also a listing for codecs in the TOOLS section.

Ok thanx. But now i uninstalled all my codecs apart from one i think which windows says it needs to run properly. and then installed a few, the video ones are fine, but non of the audio ones show up in virtualdub. They show up in the audio codecs section of the windows multimedia menu but virtualdub now says i dont have any! Iv restarted a few times but its still not workin! Thanks 4 ur help so far but do you know how i can fix this? Thanks

Hmmm. I never said to uninstall all your codecs. I said "packs". There can be lots of problems with packs and it even states that on the TOOLS - Codecs link:

    K-Lite Codec Pack
This codec pack contains everything you need to be able to playback the most popular audio and video formats(DivX, XviD, AC3, WMV, WMA, MP3, MPEG2). Warning! If you install all codecs and filters you may get video playback problem. Only install the ones you need.
I don't know where you re-tell VirtualDub about your audio codecs, but I would almost bet there is info in one of the Guides listed under Vdub in TOOLs.

    Good luck.
