    Hi All,

Please forgive my ignorance, I downloaded some movies from the net (Dolby Digital Trailers). When I try to import the video into Movie Maker, I get a message saying, "...file cannot be imported because the required CODEC to play the file is not installed on your computer."

What does this mean and how do I fix it??

The movie plays fine on my pc, but can't import for editing... why??

I also have another editing program, "Showbiz" of which I also tried to import the clip and only the audio came through, still came through as an .avi file, but only played the audio... why?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You will need the codec to play the file without this you cant edit the file or play the picture you will only get sound. Find out what codec you need with Gspot and then download and install that codec and it should work fine. Neil :P
