In TMPGEnc, it's pretty straightforward, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it in Mainconcept. The manual has nothing about selecting the start and end frames for the MPEG file to be generated. Since I'm working with AVI files generated from VHS captures, it's necessary to cut off some of the garbage at the beginning and the end. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone out there know how to set start and end frames in Mainconcept? It looks like this encoder will only do entire avi files, not individual segments.

Perhaps not. The forum rules (above each post entry) ask that you wait "at least a few days" before bumping your own thread.
Maybe in that time more Mainconcept users will have dropped in.There's no place like 127.0.0.1

you can't do it -- though you can frame serve to it and do it that way..
which is pretty darn easy -- you can use tmpgen or v-dub to do this the easiest way (as you get a preview) .. or use ulead or vegas or premiere .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
