How to convert from ac3 to mp2?

I have an ac3 encoded divx, however I have a soundbalster live which doe not have ac3 support. ALthought I have ac3 software installed, I have to turn up the volume to maximum in order to hear dialogue, which is a whisper. So I would like to convert the ac3 to mp2, so I can encode to svcd. I also have a separate srt file which I already know how to encode with tmpgenc.

I used virtualdubmod to extract a wav, and used the wav in tmpgenc, but the encoded svcd file was completely silent. The subtitles burned fine and the video was fine, but no audio.

I would like to be able to get nornal sound . How?

Try using besweet to convert ac3 to mp2.

Thx.!!!!!!..besweet was the key. However, I didin't have azid which is required to convert ac3 to wav using besweet. So I used virtualdubmod.exe to extract a wav from the ac3 audio stream, then input the wav into besweet to convert to mp2 using the besweet settings that dvd2svcd uses.Can hear the dialogue now.
