  1. Hi there,

i've just bought a Roadstar DVD 2501x to play Divx.

The new firmware allows to show subtitles in SRT format when u push the "Subtitle" button on the remote.

    My problem is:

Since this new firmware isnīt that good and sometimes causes the player to freeze while loading the subs, i wanted to had permanent subs to my DivX.

Is there a way to quickly join subs and avi and keep the exact avi properties like bitrate, res, etc.

Is there a way to avoid VirtualDub and Tmpgenc to do this?

I tryed AVI-MUX but with no results..

Just one more thing... I've only tryed to load SRT, SUB ans SSA but it seems it only supports SRT. Is there any other type of subs i should try?

    Thanks for the support..

You would have to re-encode to put the subs INTO the video (i.e., permanent subs). I've done this using VobSub to rip the subs. Then I use an AviSynth script to load the subs onto the video and encode the whole "mess" as one video file.

The quality would be better if you go back to your source video (i.e., re-ripping the DVD) rather than re-encode an already encoded DivX/Xvid file.

  3. Seems a good ideia... I'll try it..

The problem with VirtualDub, since in some cases i don't have the original movie, is that a have to re-encode a DivX and will loose quality, i'm i correct?

Is there a way to simply save it and retain the exact properties (+ the subs) ?

I wish I could help you further but I cannot as this is now borderline warez.
