  1. Hi

Please can someone help. Im new to this so please excuse my ignorance!

I've been searching through the forum to find an answer to this question and cant so I hope someone out there can help me!

Basically I have downloaded an AVI file which I want to convert to MPG to burn a VCD. When I use Nero to encode and burn a VCD it seems to work ok (plays ok on Windows Media Player) but when it plays on stand alone DVD player its blocky and the picture "sticks". I've tried loading the same AVI into TMPGEnc (version 12j) but get the error "unsupported format". When checking the properties of the AVI I notice that the frame size is set to 352 x 274 but to be PAL compliant the height needs to be 288. Can anyone tell me how I can increase the height of the frame so that TMPGEnc will accept it (I believe it encodes better than Nero so wanting to try it out!) The original AVI is perfect quality. I've also tried loading it in to AVI2VCD to convert but it gives the same error with the info that the Vertical Height is invalid.

For info, Im using Win XP Pro, P4 1.8Ghz 512RAM, NVIDIA GForce 2 MX/MX 400 video card. (also have loaded DIVX codecs)

    Any advice much appreciated!

TMPG> options> enviromental settings> VFAPI: set Direct show multimedia file reader to higher priority. Probably now you can load the avi as video source.
TMPG> setting> advanced tab: source aspect ratio 1:1(VGA), video arrange method "full screen(keep aspect ratio)".
Video tab: resolution 352x288, aspect ratio 4:3.
