AutoShrinkISO (brandnew) turns DVDShrink into One click app

Mr Bass,
I will make it as you have posted. The only difference I had originally was shrink was in "my documents" instead of "program files". I then copied all to Autoshrink folder where the paths point now. Do I just copy shirnk into the "program files" folder and point the path to there?

Well, I moved everything into the "program files" folder and set all my paths to look exactly like the ones posted by mr. bass. No luck. I continue to get the path error. I think I am giving up. It sounds like a great tool, wish I could get it to work for me. Perhaps the next version.

Maybe if you post a screenshot of your paths screen. It will help or email it to me at NYPlayer@softhome.net. To my knowledge you are the only person experiencing this.

Also make sure you are not just typing the paths in use the browse button and select the executable for each program.

I'm sorry, but I am not savvy enough to know how to capture and send a screen shot. But, Mr. Bass included a link to a screen shot that he instructed me to use an an example a few posts up and I did that. I used the browse feature and selected each of the apps to make my paths panel look exactly like the one he posted. The only difference between mine and his is that his "dvd" portion in dvdshirnk folder is in lower case "dvdshirnk" and mine is in upper "DVDshrink". But I don't think that could cause the failure. Could it?
His reads "C:/Program Files/dvdshrink/DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5.exe"
Mine reads "C:/Program Files/DVDshrink/DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5.exe"
Let me know if there is something else I should do.

Hi,
I was very pleased to see a tool like AutoShrinkIso! Finally DVDShrink can burn too! (yeah, of course not technically... )
My Problem is now, that I still have to hit the "burn" button in DVD Decryptor. Still much of an improvement, but my question is: is there any setting in DVD Decryptor I forgot to set? I use DVDShrink 3.0 Beta5, DVDDecryptor 3.1.6 and AutoShrinkIso 1.6

Does Autoshrink create an AUDIO_TS folder too? I know that DVD Shrink doesn't, and I have to manually create it before using Imagetool Classic on it.

Also do I put "C" in where it says DVD ROM when I am using files on my harddrive?

just put the Label Name, e.g. "MY_DVD" ind the Label box and hit 'start'. No need to change the DVD-Rom Drive letter to C. then you can look for your files in DVDShrink!

That part is correct if your video files are on C...but you need to OPEN those files in DVDShrink. You said you used TmpgEnc...well you still have to process them through dvdshrink to let autoshrinkISO do it's magic.

Anyway your using the wrong app for what your trying to accomplish. You want to use ImgTool Classic it'll create the .iso from your video files and start DVDDecrypter to burn it.

I have had no problem creating an ISO image
The only problem I have had was the ISO file did not reflect the menu structure of the DVD nor the backed up files on the other partition
I'm not sure if this is a bug or what but when I tried to mount and play on Alcohol virtual drive this couldn't find the DVD menu rendering the copied DVD useless.
So guys IS there any special way to rip and shrink a DVD with these three tools?

Presto, as mentioned above, you should just enter the Label/Name of the DVD (this is done automatically when a DVD is in your drive and actually this first step in AutoShrinkISO doesn't do much more than setting the paths for DVDShrink and setting the Label and the path for the ISO-Tool!). After you entered the Label, e.g. "MY_SECOND_MOVIE" (it actually doesn't matter that much since you will only see this label on a PC and (mostly) not on your standalone DVD Player) you hit the "Start" button and DVDShrink will open and then you proceed as discribed in the several guides! Thats all!
You should be aware that AutoShrinkISO and AutoShrink isn't the same! AutoShrinkISO uses DVD Decrypter to burn the image while AutoShrink uses ImgTool (with Nero installed!!!) or some other burning programs to burn the ISO.

just do as i said in the first place , then when entering DVDShrink hit the "Open Files" button instead of the "Open Disc" button, select your files and your done!

Alternatively you could not use AutoShrink but only DVDShrink to shrink your Video-Files and then burn them with Nero.

Maybe you should just read along this and some other sites to find your answers next time!!!

What I'm trying to find out here is what you do when you are NOT ripping a DVD but instead have created your own VIDEO_TS file.

Have you just got an MPEG 2 file that you wish to shrink before putting on a DVD? If so, DVD Shrink won't accept it. You will need to author it into a proper VIDEO_TS folder with DVD authoring software first and then use DVD Shrink on THAT folder to access the file.

I HAVE A VIDEO_TS FOLDER WHICH I CREATED WITH TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR. I AM QUITE CAPABLE OF USING DVD SHRINK AND NERO TO BURN IT. INSTEAD, I WOULD LIKE TO USE AUTOSHRINK ISO TO SHRINK AND BURN THE DVD. I'M A LITTLE CONFUSED OVER WHAT TO PUT IN THE VOLUME LABEL BOX.

I appreciate people trying to help but my question is specifically about what to put in that box when NOT ripping a DVD. If you don't know what to put in that box don't waste both of our time by answering something else. I KNOW HOW TO BURN A DVD AND WHAT PROGRAMS TO USE ETC...

No offence intended there ; but did you give my version a try? And do you know what a DVD-Label is? It is the name of the DVD, only appearing in e.g. when you put your DVD in your drive, then the explorer will say "MY_DVD (D:)" instead of "DVD-ROM (D:)". This is all that the first AutoShrinkISO step does!!!! put anything in that box, it doesn't matter!!!! it does not influence the shrinking nor the burning, just don't use some strange letters/signs but only Alphanumerics and _ then hit start and use DVDShrink! Good Luck!
And by the way: that does not at all assumes your ripping from the DVD, because you don't open anything in AutoShrinkISO but in DVDShrink! I had to do the same as you did once and it worked the way I explained it, just give it a try!

You and I seem to be speaking a different language or something. You kept telling me to put the DVD label in the box labled DVD label. I guess you thought I would understand that as "put what you want the DVD label to be in that box" but that was not at all clear. I allready tried just making up a name and it didn't work. I was trying to find out if I needed to put something in particular in there. The wording in that box makes no sense to me.

well, neither I nor AutoShinkISO cares what you put in there, that's what i tried to say...
just think about this

--DO NOT use funky characters for volume label !@#$%^&(*).+|\. Only use _ underscore and abc123.

I learn to use new programs all the time. I asked a small question which apparently could have been answered in a few words.

I knew I was in trouble when the first reply completely missed my actual question. It got worse from there. I'm absolutely amazed that people repeatedly didn't answer my question and made comments that were ridiculous ie asking me if I was trying to use mpg in DVD shrink when my post clearly said I had a video_ts folder on my hard drive. Or saying I should use DVD Shrink and Nero when I said that that is exactly what I do in previous posts.

Then there is the suggestion that I should have read before asking as if I am some kind of newbie demanding that everything be handed to me.

Now I'm told that since I know how to burn a DVD I shouldn't try to save a step by learning a new program just because it takes a few days to sort things out.

At this point I'm just getting a kick out of how absurd this whole thing has been. Can any one read the replies to my question and claim they are accurate and to the point?

Actually AutoShrinkISO is only a - nevertheless very usefull and well done - shell which uses other programs and their ability for command lines to do it's job. Not that hard to get I figured. Just follow the guide from mrbass on http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ then - in your case - enter whatever name/brand/label you like, i.e. "Cpt_Marzili_sucks" :P and then just follow a DVDShrink guide, i.e. http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink3-main.htm (in your case follow the instructions as if you already ripped a DVD (yes, I'm fully aware of the fact that you didn't really ripped a DVD, which is against the law by the way )). The whole thing with AutoShrinkISO isn't that hard to get, isn't it? And from now on I will not bother you ever again! Big Scout promise!

I don't even understand the point of your post. I know what AutoShrink ISO is. I know what programs it uses. I'm not having an extrodinary problem using it, I just ran into a little problem and asked a small question.

I don't think you suck but I do think that you are not a very careful poster and seem "shoot from the hip". There is nothing at all illegal about ripping a DVD.
