    HELP HELP

I have been trying to make vcds for a month now and with no success. I can see hear the film o.k. but the screen is half missing!!! After spending this month trying to solve this problem I have found the cause:
It seems that it makes the screen far too big each time and I can only see part of it. I tried every setting imaginable in temgenc (screen size, aspect ratio etc...) And with only minor success. I am gettin a lend of a film to copy soon and need the solution quick..

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!

  2. Looks like you are not using the standard resolution for the film. You have to use 352X240 for NTSC or 352X288 for PAL. Just load the correct template ( Ntsc, Pal, Ntscfilm) in tmpgenc (right bottom)and all settings will be right. dont mess with anything.load the movie and econde it.after a suscefull conversion you can try different settings for better results.

  4. does the movie play well in the computer? if yes, maybe the problem is with your dvd.

  5. check out the "image positioning method" in "advanced options" in tmpeg
be sure that "fit to frame (preserve aspect ratio)" is selected

    Killer Joe:
The movie plays well on my computer, but I have other vcds which are pirate vcds and they work well on my vcd player.

The image position method I have selected is center(keep aspect ratio) the method you talk of is not in my tempgenc, but I suppose they are the same thing.

  7. Use "full screen - (keep aspect ratio)" .

  8. use tmpgenc 12.i or a later one. 2.00 is good too.

I am using TMPGEnc Version 2.00.29.113 and Have tried all the image positioning methods TMPGEnc has and with no success. After spending loads of money on this project it look like I am going to have to give up vcd as I am getting no where with it. Thanks for trying your best to get me an answer and If you think of the solution to my problem please post it here as I really want vcd and like TMPGEnc more than any other avi2mpg program out there.

    A hopeful,
    Baker.

  10. Can you upload somewhere a few seconds (5 or so) part of the movie you try to encode with TMPGenc, so we can help you out?

    Hi
I have a similar problem and found that TMPGenc gave unusual results.
Try a few seconds of video (30 seems enough) and encode it to a CD-RW. Mos players that take CD-R seem to handle CD-RW OK. At least this way you dont have so many coasters!
TMPGenc has a standard template for VCD that does work ok!
If your CD writer is quite old ( like mine) you may be getting dropout erors at higher speeds. Try burning at times 2 (and sleep a lot more!)

    Peter:
Afraid I have nowhere to upload it to however I could e-mail a clip to you if you want. But this wouldn't make a difference as the clip would look alright
on your pc it's the vcd player that would have the problem.

    DaveL1:
Dave I am afriad my player dosn't support cd-rw and I always burn at 2 speed anyway, If you would like a clip like peter I could send it to you.

Thanks a lot for the help hope you can find my solution.

  13. You can mail a clip if you want. If you think it's your dvd player, burn an example from this site to a cdrw and check this out on your dvd player.
If you want to mail a short clip, send me a pm and I'll give you another e-mail address.

My connection is too slow, to download the pal version would take 11hrs!! Would you please send me a "small" clip if you have it handy and I can try that. How should I give you my e-mail address?

will I ever find a solution?,

  15. I assume you're not talking about the loss of picture on the top and bottom because of the overscan of TV's? You loose about 20% of the image when displayed on a TV set because of the overscan. On a PC, you will see 100% of the image, on a TV set you get around 80%.

    Hi all,

this problem would seem to be the mpeg frame size embedded, or rather missing, from the mpeg file that you're burning to disc. I have the same problem intermittently with rendered files that have been encoded to Mpeg 2 SVCD files prior to being used via TSCV/videoimager and then burned as a cue file via nero.

To fix the problem get hold of a copy of fix12c by Eric Bouly (freeware see http://www.geocities.com/eby_vdo), this can run as a gui or via a dos prompt, for svcd i would use the command fix12c myvideofile.mpg -h 480 -v 576 -r 2
which would set the video file to be 480 x 576 correct for a PAL image the -r 2 flag sets a 4:3 ratio for normal format (squarish) video, I believe this also works with VCD and NTSC files.

Hope this helps. My description of the problem is a little rough, read the readme.txt file that is in the zip package for a more complex explanation of the problem, however this does seem to fix the problem for me.

    Cheers

    Ed

  17. Send me a private message with your e-mail and I'll send you a clip of a few seconds of a SVCD and one of a VCD to test, which should work on your dvd player.

I don't know the playstation with addon, but probably that's the problem.
