Then to add insult to injury, you post that you have WAREZ! T3 is not out commercially AFAIK.
So you want us to help you convert downloaded illegal movies now, is that correct?

In the future if anyone and I don't care who, uses the word downloaded in his post, one can only assume that it was ill gotten off a peer to peer web site. Why are we wasting are time helping these people with their stupid little problems? They download something, can't get it to play and then come crying on this site wanting help to get it to play. This thread ran for quite some time before the little thief bothered to tell anyone what he had. Key word "downloaded" means no help and no reply!

Actually you can download movies that are legal. I remember a car company that had some movies featuring its cars and that it encouraged everyone to download its movies.
Hello. -
Ya, but 9 out of ten times it's these type who think they can get a quality downloaded movie burned to DVD to go show their friend "ooh looky what I did types". Dead give away "Two files I want to join together". Or it's in DVix format. Been around the block too long dealing with these types. They can't figure out why the audio is so bad, or why there is a red diagional line running across their movie or they want to know how to get rid up foreign subtitles. Let's face it, this site is going to continue to atract 5 Minute wonders!

But you still sound as if it is so hard for you to believe you are the only one on earth who has morals. This look familiar?:
And may I say are you guys telling me you’re completely innocent of illegally downloaded content????Hello. -
This guy made a BIG mistake, and he's going pay, but to ASSume that the word "downloaded" means "Piracy" is absurd. I have downloaded many movies, including, student films, promos, old ads, and other rarities that are not copyrighted. I don't feel the need to tell anyone which movie I'm talking about when asking for help, but for anyone to ask or ASSume that I have pirated content is plain WRONG. To ASSume that anyone wanting to join 2 movie files together is a Pirate, is Asinine and shallow. If you want to ask everyone who asks for help if they are dealing with Pirated content, then be my guest, but it sounds like you want to turn this site into some sort of a police state.
Saying T3 was stupid and wrong. This guy is wrong and should be punished for his crimes, but you guys with the holier than thou attitude is laughable. It's always the same ones who pounce when a warning is handed out, as if the Mods can't handle it and that you get some glee from it all.
This site is against TALKING about downloading warez, and it should be, but I personally know quite a few here who do it and they are NOT thieves. There is someone who is quite respected on this very site who recently downloaded a movie. When that movie was available for purchase in the stores, he bought it and deleted the movie. If you want to call this stealing, than that is your right, but I call it money for the movie industry. Oh, and did I mention that he saw that very film in the theaters as well. Oh my, the movie industry is losing out big to this guy. :P Many people tend to be very narrow thinkers on this issue and it is quite funny indeed.
This is the same argument that the record industry is using for the decline of CD sales. Could it be the lack of talent or the high price of CDs? Nah, that would be too straightforward.
DIVX movies are not the greatest in terms of quality, and I personally don't know anyone who downloads movies as a replacement for DVD. The DVDs you're going to buy are ones you will buy and the ones that your not, well you get the point. The movie industry is NOT losing any money here people.
I don't advocate downloading movies, but I certainly don't crucify people for it either. I personally don't do it because of the risk involved, but if I did, it would not affect my DVD purchasing habits and I don't believe that it has affected the purchasing habits of people who I know that do it.
I do NOT defend this guy in anyway, because he broke the forum rules. He gets his warning and abuse for having terrible written English skills, but that's all. You won't hear me spouting the judgment S**T, but hey that is where you guys come in. Have fun with that narrow thought process. -
Good grief.
Ya your right on many points cplevel42, but most of us don't ASSume a download is warez, untill someone says hey I just got this warez file!
No hollier than thou attitiude here, just keep quite and obey the rules!
Ya, I have put alot of stuff on P2P at times, or tried. And will agian soon!
I have friends with bands that wrote their own songs, nothing worng with that if they want to share them!
I am making a magic DVD, parts will be on P2P, not the whole thing though.
SO ya, lots of stuff is Ok!
Hard to get it started though, since people have to be looking for it to find it! -

There was an entire thread about whether or not the words "downloaded movie" should automatically considered warez. The moderators and most of the people posting agreed that movies should not be considered warez just because they are downloaded. In addition, the home page of this web site has a section describing what this site is about. It specifically states that it will help you convert downloaded movie clips to a format (vcd, svcd, etc.) that you can watch on you dvd player. If one of the aims of this site is to help convert downloaded movies, unless someone specifically mentions a movie that is not available commercially, we cannot assume the movie is warez.

Ya and next week your stamce will be just the opposite. At least I have integrity and stand by my word and don't switch sides each day. The downloaded movies issue is what will someday cause this site some serious legal issues. Use the word downloaded and you invite all who live on peer to peer sites to come and whine about how to get their "downloaded" movie on to DVD. Come on enough of this bull. Deal with the issues at hand and quit hiding behind your Mom's apron. Take the right stance or go find another hobby. It's usually the one's who download illegal movies, who are the one's supporting this cause.

Bah. 99% of downloaded videos are warez. That includes any timeshifted TV episode. Anyone downloading 1960's educational films has other issues :P
Generally speaking I give them the benefit of the doubt, but not always. Particulary if they ask the moronically obvious question. Or forget to mention the moronically obvious 'VBR Audio' message that VDUB gave them.
You get what you pay for. I absolutely refuse to treat everyone as a kind and gentle soul in need of tutoring. Some of them need to be seriously bitch-slapped and their cable modems locked at 16 kbps. If someone has done their homework, tried but get's an error, and has a specific question they get specific help. People that want their 'downloaded' movie put on DVDR for them....well.....sometimes it's boring during the day :PTo Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -

Take the right stance or go find another hobby. It's usually the one's who download illegal movies, who are the one's supporting this cause.
It's usually the ones who don't support the issue that are full of crap and don't understand file sharing. It's not a clear-cut case of theft, especially when people are buying the same stuff they are downloading. Many people use it as a way to preview content before they buy; just the same way people do at the library in regards to books, audio CDs and DVDs. Yep, the library has DVDs too.
Do you remember when Metallica made the big stink with Napster about file sharing ruining their profit margin? Have you heard the latest CRAP that Metallica calls music? The reason for their declining sales has to do with TALENT. Santana's latest release sold millions and was just as vulnerable to file sharing as Metallica's material, so why has Santana's record sales skyrocketed? Maybe Metallica should go back and write another album like "Ride The Lightning" and then they won't need to complain any more.
Are there even any really talented groups anymore? Sure, a few, but nothing like the 70's, 80's and 90's when groups wrote their own tunes and when Rock, Pop, Jazz, and Dance all had TONS of talented acts. Why do you think that classic rock and 80's radio stations have sprung up in every radio market across the US? This is the REAL reason that the music industry is losing money and they are brain washing you into believing that it's because of file sharing. There are only so many copies of the Eagles greatest hits that people are willing to buy.
Sure there are college students who have downloaded tons of MP3s, but guess what, they didn't have the cash to buy the CDs anyway. At $15.00 a pop, what college student could? The word of mouth advertising that has been created in the process is HUGE for bands that are part of the underground trying to get noticed and this method has worked for many of them.
Newsflash! No one is downloading Britney Spears MP3s except for a few 10 year olds who don't know better.
Finally, the movie industry is making RECORD profits, so all of this PERCEIVED stealing is not having an affect on them. Yeah, you don't see the movie industry suing anyone, do you? Quite a few in the movie industry have come out and said they think that the RIAA has crossed the line and that it may backfire in the end. Guess what? Public opinion agrees with that view.
There is only one reason that I currently don't download. It's called RIAA lawsuit. I don't need that in my life. The people that I know that currently download are a bit braver than me. I still have the utmost respect for them because most of them have even bigger "store bought" collections than me. They are not thieves or criminals. I used to do it, but as I said, the risk is just too great. You can be brainwashed by the record industry and the RIAA if you want. That is your choice.
Compressed MP3 and DIVX will never replace 24 bit audio and DVD video. The quality just aint there!
