Try Virtual Dub mod. Load it and save it under a different codec.

Hmm - first I'll cut and paste what I just told the last "help me" person :c)

some friendly - hopefully helpful - advice. Go back into your original post, click edit, and change the title of your post subject to reflect your question.

A lot of very helpful people here might skip over posts that just say "help" and go to others where they know what the problem is before even looking.
Next - try DLing Gspot - it is in the TOOLS section. It will help you see what codec was used on that avi and whether or not you have it.

If it is a true divx, do you have the latest codec? 5.1? www.divx.com

    Oh, and ......... WELCOME :c)

You load it into Virtual Dub, select the new codec you want, then save it on your hard drive. Then burn it onto your CD to be played on your player. Do you think you understand what we mean?

All you've said so far is "normal" avi and that it needs a "divx codec". Can't help you any more than what was said above.

Only you have that "avi". Only you can tell what that "avi" is and what it needs to run on your player "which plays normal avis".

You were given good info to find out, but come back with only that we don't understand.

You need to supply thorough information if you want thorough answers.

    To be more precise:
Under audio select "Direct Stream Copy".
Under video select "Full processing mode", in Compression select your compression codec (divx?).
Under File select "Save as avi" and wait.
    Burn to disc.

Zippy, he wants a AVI burned to CD that does not use a DivX codec, so he can play it in his player. He calls the new AVI file he wants a "normal" AVI. I do not know what AVIs play in a player, but it appears that DivX AVIs don't

No such thing. Avi files can be created using any one of several audio and video codecs, although there are a few commonly used ones. Gspot will analyze the file and tell you what codecs are required.

I thought that most avi players used divx.

Post the type and brand of your DVD-player, perhaps we can find out for you what kind of AVI's it can deal with.

Why don't you try to answer some of the questions that have been asked by the other people so they can help you out, cuz I still have no clue what kind (type) of player you have. If we know a bit more about the specs we can help you out, work with us here cause we know Jack about you, Jack.

Might help if you use actual words and sentences too.

This is a forum, not a mobile. Lots of people are trying to help you. Give a little. :c)

Using proper ENGLISH should not be a problem. After all, you are from England. Most of you BRITS are better at this than us YANKS.

  23. Sorry got a little to use to short hand thx for your help guys! What I was saying before is that my friend said Nero encodes the codec and thus allows it to play if you make a vcd! But the file needs to be split! That idea completely missed me. do you think that that could work???

Nice one, editing your post so now it shows the type. Very funny, Ill make very special WonTon soup for you
    OK, never mind, searched for the AIWA Hv-Dh1 on the left side of the screen and it gave me the following results;
    CDR CDRW DVD-R DVD-RW VCD MP3 VBR 196kbit/s
Don't see DivX, are you sure the AIWA can play these?

  27. noo i said it couldent! bah im confusing every1 now even myself! erm but it plays avis! so i thought the codec could be compiled into it or something. Im just getting all confused now >_<! Ill start from the top! i have an avi that needs a divx codec on my pc! (div3- video and 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-2 Layer 3-audio (which worked without divx installed)! can i include the codec into the avi so it doesnt require divx or am i just making no sense at all?
    Quote Quote
  28. this is kindov wht i thought of nero doesnt making a vcd in it incoperate the codec! meaning all i have to do is split it into 2 files and make 2 vcd's????????

You're right about the VCD (please take a look at a few of the tutorials, most of them are real bauties). Try not to use Nero to generate the VCD's, it's not the "real" tool to do the job.
Where did you read or hear that tje AIWA can play Avi's
