nero freezing

A few days ago my nero started acting weird. It works well until I tell it to burn; it suddenly freezes. It happens when it says its "checking disc." I can't even open my cd door or alt-tab to close nero. Anyone know of any reason why it does that? Other burning software, like cdrwin, works flawlessly, though.

I used have the same problem where my Nero kept freezing and it was 5.0.0.8 somthing like that. But that was off a proper Nero cd, so i tried Ner 5.0.0.10 and that worked fine. What Nero are you running? To solve your problem i would say update your Nero to Nero 5.0.0.10 or higher and this should solve your problem just fine. If this doesn't solve it get back to me and i'll see what i can do. Tell me if it works alright please.

i was wondering if you're using nero 6. my nero 5 worked fine but nero6 freezes or crashes sometimes. don;t know what it is. it does it with my cd and dvd burner.

tigerman8u, I've heard about Nero 6 crashing but how did you get hold off it? I got mine from Neros website http://www.nero.com then i went and got the serial for it and touch wood mine as been working fine. Try downloading it off nero's website this mite work alright. Neil

Nero can be weird, I used to use a legit copy of Nero 5 that came with my burner but it one day decided that my CD-R/W could no longer burn at 32, it insisted it could now only burn at 24. ClicknBurn would work great at 32 but Nero wouldn't let me go above 24 and it was burning just fine at 32 for months! Even updated to the latest version it still did this, I quit using it eventually.

I recieved Nero Express 5 with my DVD burner and have been using it ever since, nothing bizarre has happened and its up to 5.5.10.42

I have heard a lot of grumbling over Nero 6 so I am sticking with what works for now.
