    Here's the tools I use...

    - DVD2AVI
    - vob2audo
    - Cinema Craft Encoder
    - TMPGEnc (with TooLame)
    - bbMPEG

  3. Depends on personal favor.....

    Personally I've chosen for;

    DVD-Decrypter for ripping (faster then all others)
    DVD2AVI (to rip the audio)
    AviSynth frameserving TMPGenc (to create the MPG)
    TMPGenc Tools (to cut the MPG-file)
    VCDImager with Nero (to burn the MPG-file)

    The above combination only works for movies without subtitles.

    When I wanna include subtitles I've used;

    DVD-Decrypter for ripping (faster then all others)
    FlasK frameserving TMPGenc (with the frame server plugin)
    TMPGenc Tools (to cut the MPG-file)
    VCDImager with Nero (to burn the MPG-file)

    Another great option is;
    DVD-Decrypter for ripping (faster then all others)
    FlasK with a CinemaCraft Encoder plugin (for superb SVCD)
    TMPGenc Tools (to cut the MPG-file)
    VCDImager with Nero (to burn the MPG-file)

    For VCD witnh subtitles;
    Another great option is;
    DVD-Decrypter for ripping (faster then all others)
    FlasK with the Panasonic plugin (for VCD)
    TMPGenc Tools (to cut the MPG-file)
    VCDImager with Nero (to burn the MPG-file)

    As you see, depends per movie and for me also per mood. I want it be done the fastest and easiest way, so no muxing and remuxing included and no multi-pass for me. Multipass makes the quality some better, but almost near DVD quality (CQ 2100 with CCE) is good enough for me. When I want real (near) DVD quality I simply buy the DVD itself.

    But as said; PERSONAL favor.

  4. my personal fav is :
    cladMdec to ripp or smartripper
    then use: DVD2AVI to get the files for TMPGenc
    then use :TMPGenc with toolame,maenc,sympx or wav2mp to convert to mpeg files and use its tools to cut it
    To burn i suggest nero 5.5.4.0 or above to burn vcd or svcd

    those are my fav combo
