  1. I just bought a new Dell PowerEdge 400sc with P4 2.4 800fsb which has an AGP 8x. I am looking for a decent Video Display card with capture function so I can convert mainly VHS tapes and 8mm camcorder tapes to DV to burn to DVD.

I don't play game at all and I can only afford for up to $150 at this time.

    Thank in advance.

For that price I'd suggest the Canopus ADVC-50.
It's just a little more expensive (but be grateful, it's far more over here in the UK!) than your budget but trust me, you won't regret it.
You'll have none of the issues you'll have with a conventional card.
I'm about to buy one myself, having used an ATI Radeon (superb BTW, but time to move on) for the last twelve months.
The canopus is a time base corrector, and transfer's the footage to digital to the PC via firewire, rather than suffer the problems associated with conventional captures.

  3. Thank Will Hay. I will probably wait for a few months to have enough $$ to get the Canopus ADVC-100. In the mean time I just get a cheap decent VGA card at this time. Thank again for your input and thank you DVDRHELP site for all the valuable information.
