  1. I have recently had to re-format my Hard Drive, and I have re-installed TMPGEnc 2.521.58.169 (the most up-to-date version), and when I load the WMV file into the appropriate areas as I had done numerous times before the re-format, and changed the settings for highest quality etc and click start, it gets to the 5 second part of the file and then freezes. I then click stop, and then the program will not let the button click as the program is not responding. It does it at the same spot of the file every time. I tried installing an older version of the program, and that didn't work either. I moved the Direct Show file that is in the Environmental Settings to Priority of 4 as I think that is what it used to be when it was working.

Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? Thanks for any help in advance.

  2. perhaps that particular file you are trying to convert is corrupted? I would have said use asftools to try and repair the file, but since it is wmv file.. Hmm try this rename the extension to an asf, use asftools and see it it loads it in, if so, use it's repair function and see if that helps.
i have no idea if an actual wmv file repair program exist, or if it is just easier-- try to download that file again

  3. Thanks for that suggestion, I'll give that a try. The file does play on the computer, but at the very start, it does appear to have like one or two bad frames where it goes a bit blank, but the rest seems to be fine. I probably will just have to download it again if this doesn't work.
