    1. In-built pop-up stopper
    2. In-built cookie stopper (again, that is fully configurable -- in terms of which sites you allow cookies and which you don't)
    3. Tabbed browsing (once you start, you can't go back)
    4. Able so save bookmarks of "groups of tabbed" pages (i.e., multiple webpages in one bookmark)
    5. If Mozilla ever crashes (very rare), it won't ever take down the OS / Windows Explorer with it
    6. Comes with very good e-mail client that won't ever get hit by Outlook Express type exploits.
    ...........
Avant Browser has the following things going for it.
    1. Flash Animation Filter
    2. Built-in Pop-up killing thingy
    3. Multi-Window Browsing and tabbed browsing
    4. Real Full Screen Mode just like IE cause its based on it.
    5. Built-in Google Search Engine
    6. Safe Recovery
    7. Skins

Though I hate MS, IE gives me few problems, since avant is based on IE it maintains full compatibility with just about everything out there... including Plugins, ActiveX controls and such. So far the only thing to reject me is Windows Update itself.

also like I said for PC browsing I cannot suggest Avant Browser enough. Its so sweet.

Update to the update on Safari: I even tried the thing where you delete teh cache and place an empty text file in its place so it cannot be recreated. No go.
all you need to do is click the DEAVTIVATE CACHE button and it should work like a charm.

I'm using WaMCom/Mozilla 1.3.1 on Mac OS 9, which is Mozilla plus a lot of post-release bugfix patches. On the Linux machines I usually use Firebird, sometimes Epiphany or Konquerer. On the Windows PC I use IE, I do so little browsing on that machine that it's not worthwhile to download anything else. I've mostly stopped using Lynx in favor of Links. It's a newer text-only browser that actually has reasonable support for the tables and frames that are (ab)used so much these days.

I think one more thing that Mozilla has over IE is image filtering. Unfortunately it's not as practical as I would like (at least in the earlier releases that had it, I haven't tried the latest), but it's a good start.

I use Netscape 7.1 for almost everything. The pop-up blocker is fantastic. Cookie management is easy enough, though it is tiresome sometimes to have those "allow cookie" alerts pop up for sites I haven't been to. The email client has a simple look which I like and is pretty customizable.

I use IE for whatever I can't access with Netscape. That usually means sites owned by M$.

People can call IE crap all they want, but 90% of the world uses it. Me included. I defected to it about a year ago... having used Netscape since it came out.
