  1. Hi,
Firstly let me say that I have searched the other posts.

I make DVDs using TMPEG to convert video and TMPEG DVD Author to compile the DVD.

Everything was great... then all of a sudden, all the DVD I make are out of sync?

I have not changed my methods and this now happens when converting from any type of file.

This is really really odd as it has not happened over the many other DVDs Ihave made.

The sound goes out of sync on my standalone player but if I rewind or fast forward for a sec then play again...it seems to cure it and moves it all back into sync.

    What is happening here?

I would appreciate any advice on this very much.

    regards, Gray

    Hi Gray

It sounds to me that you mite have a faulty dvd cd or you mite have some bad frames within you movie. Have you checked for bad frames? I've had a similar prob but when i encode to mpg in tmpgenc i use a wave file as my audio, this is because sometimes you audio is out off sync when you encode. So try re encoding it or try it on another dvd because you mite find that you have bad frames within the movie or you have a bad dvd cd. If that doesn't work just write another reply back and i'll try and find out for you

Yep sounds like you are dropping frames during your AVI capture, if you are using VirtualDub as the capture utility, it shows the amount of frames being dropped. VHS tape captures usually drop a lot more frames than cable or satellite tv captures (signal quality). Before I picked up an MPEG2 capture card I was capturing AVI's via my Geforce4 card and using Virtual dub capturing VHS I was dropping around 1 frame per 3000, with satellite tv it was only 1 frame in 10000. If you are capturing VHS try cleaning your VHS player tape head? Virtualdub also allows you to hard lock your audio and video into sync.
