problems with no picture when converting avi to mpg

When im using TMPGENc to make an avi file to an mpeg file a problem occur.
After about halfway through the picture is gone and there is only a black screen but the sound is still there why is that?

I have used TMPGENc earlier with no problem but now i can´t convert any file do you know what can be the problem?

Have you checked the avi for bad frames?

and what is bad frame?

Use virtualdub to do this you can find a guide on the left. If you downloaded the file you will almost certainly have bad frames.
