I think the student should get together with some legal students and sue their ass of for defamation. That student is now labeled as an evil hacker/terrorist! It should be an easy case to win.

It had to do with reviewing a rabbit when we invented the duck and saying the rabbit didn't work right

statements like that will cause thier share price to fall to less than 11cents a share .. because it makes no sense ..

if three major labels also use the same technology in the near future .. well ..

all this does is prevent the avg (average ? even my 7 year old could have figured this out) user from making copies of a cd they would have to have bought in the first place ! -- which does diddly squat for anti piracy and p2p ...

If you really need a laugh, read what the president of SunnComm has to say to questions posed regarding this issue. Talk about deluded!

  6. 9. So-called "experts" who grandstand by publishing MediaMax hacks donīt "get it." They seem to born out of some Messiah complex hell-bent on saving the world from any technological attempt to protect artists and their property.
JESUS COULD BE A HACKER! :P

Especially read the "prez's" first post at the top of the SunnComm page - I would call it the "10 commandments according to Peter". This stuff is hilarious! Maybe SNL can find some use for it in "Weekend Update"

(From one of the Prez's pronouncements) :

  8. "7. The current version of MediaMax is like any software technology in Version 1. The next version will make it tougher and tougher to circumvent. We have to start somewhere and progressive record companies like BMG and others understand this."

Yeah sure, what will be next the space key?

If the record labels were smart they would make a CD Extra with WMA9 and DRM as the second session.

Yeah, but they aren't smart. They want to completely stop copying from the first session, and control what you do with the mp3's in the second session. The president of this company should be fired for misleading the record labels about what this so-called "technology" could do. I guess they'll keep trying, but as we all know, and often repeated, "if I can hear it, I can copy it". These stupid companies waste their time and money on this type of thing, that will never come close to accomplishing what they are trying to do (which is impossible anyway). :P
