  1. I transfer heaps of tapes etc over to my PC in real time through the optical connections on my sound card, as the standard analon inputs on any card are extremely noisy. It's a simple matter of a PC being a very noisy enviroment, so I was wondering what sort of audio quality you get hiss wise when transferring video over.

  2. Hey

I donīt quite get it. If youīre using digital inputs, teh audio-qual depends on your A/D-Converter. What do u use? Dat/MD-Deck?
When transferring VHS-Hifi sOund to DIgital, itīs often necessary to korrekt dc-offsets an filter at 16 kHz, because many vhs-vcrs with hifi sound donīt handle the HF-Sigbal right. Try some fft on the input-signal and youīl see. If thereīre "hisses", you got a problem. those are probably generatet inside the analog-sigal-chain in the vcr since hisses are noct typical for digital signal-processing.
ALway watch the headroom when converting to digital!!

  3. Ok, I didn't word that properly. Do you mean I can transfer the audio from videos into my soundcard, and it will automatically be synced with the video by the capture software? So, essentially, the capture software will recognise my soundcard and link it in with the video feed. I just assumed that the video cards had the audio input on them and that was the place the audio had to go in.

I'm a newbie, so if you could confirm what I said, it'll do me the world of good

    Thanks!
