  1. I've searched for posts of similar problems, but haven't found anything like this one...

I have a VCD of a TV episode that has an a/v sync problem. I recently learned how to correct this (and did so on another VCD). Unfortunately, I am unable to correct the problem on this particular VCD because of the following problem...

When viewing the DAT (mpeg) file, it keeps stopping approximately 2/3rds of the way through the video. Strangely enough, this VCD works fine and plays all the way through on my DVD player and on my PC when viewed with WINDVD. When I try viewing (or editing) the same file with Windows Media Player, VideoStudio, TMPGenc, VirtualDub, or MPEG2VCR, they all play to the exact same spot (about 2/3rds of the way through) and then stop. NOTE: The slider-bar on all these applications does go all the way through and stops on the far right as if it were playing the entire video.

This is the strangest thing I've ever seen. How can the same file play fine on one or two applications but stop at the exact same place on almost everything else?

I obviously can't fix an a/v sync problem if I can't access the entire video. I didn't even realize this was going on until I had already demultiplexed the file and was trying to resync it. Then I realized I was missing the last 1/3rd of the video.

Being desperate enough, I attempted to recapture the file while playing it on my DVD player but the sound quality is really bad compared to my normal TV captures and the video quality is obviously decreased. I'd rather not go this route to fix the sync problem.

    Any ideas?

  2. Still messing with this file. Today when I loaded it into VirtualDub, I received the following error:

"MPEG- Anachronistic or discontinuous timestamp found in audio stream 0 at byte position 16703988 (may indicate improper join)"

It still only loaded the first 2/3rds of the video so I'm not sure how to look for or correct this error.
