So called mini DVD's on CD can but I don't think that's what you had in mind.

No need for DVD writers otherwise.

  8. Yes,
There is a program package you can buy that converts your CD burner to a DVD burner. It costs about $45.

I have not yet tried the package myself, but the spammers (er, advertisers) Claims it makes perfect backups of any 9 GIG or 4.7 GIG DVD to a standard 650mb CD-r.

It must be good, I was getting about 30 spams (huh, emails) per day in 4 boxes about it for awhile

I was a dummie and threw away $200 for a real DVD burner instead of buying that package for just $45 and using my existing 52x CD burner

And I could have had all those FREE progams to the left (tools section) in one neat little download for just $45, instead have having to waist all this time downloading each one as I need them. :P

Grrr, sometimes I can be so dumb (or sarcastic )

Truth is if you got the spam, it's garbage! Sells you free tools you can download free, and makes VCD NOT DVD and for the most part the quality is extremly bad! You are NOT making a DVD!

You can compress movies to fit on a CD-r but you lose quality, often so much it's not worth watching! I have made VCD and SVCD with about a 30 minute cartoon that looks good enough, but not perfect.

There is no way to make a DVD with a CD burner, period! Diferent disks and different lasers, though they may look nearly the same, they are not!

Lots of guides here if you want to try and make some VCDs or SVCDs, and you can use all free tools to do it! Just do some reading on it.

Never buy any package you find in your e-mail that claims DVD to CD or such, you don't even get good instructions from what I heard. Just a pack of free tools, or links to someplace like here to find them!

Have fun and try some VCDs, some people I think have made fairly decent ones from what I have heard here. Just check out the guides well.

Or you can get a 2X DVD burner for just $100 now too, well worth the money! Just do some reading first!

Perhaps when replying to innocent posts such as this you could
consider that the answer has been given in the very first reply therefore piss taking is totally un-neccessary to a new user.
Stupid question or not it doesn't hurt to ask, and arseholes taking a cheap shot are doing no more than using up Baldrick's storage space.

You can create a VCD on a CDRW drive which will play in a standard DVD player, is this what you meant?
Quality is nothing like a typical DVD I'm afraid; you can create SVCD's but in doing so you're increasing quality at the expense of storage.
I wouldn't recommend exceeding 60 minutes on a SVCD though.
Take a look at the 'how to' guides on your left...
    ....good luck

...and that causes extra heat. Baldrick doesn't like heat.
