  1. Ok I've downloaded 2 mpegs BOTH are 4:3, NTSC and 480x480 resolution, I'm wanting to join these two mpegs and then re-encode to NTSC dvd format, problem is everytime I join them and play the newly created mpeg you reach the part where they are joined the picture starts to stutter and the audio seems slightly out (and stays like it until the end of the movie) I've also tried different Mpegs joiners too with no luck

I've also tried :- starting dvd2avi and then add both mpegs and save the project, this then gives me the audio and the d2v file, then I use TMGPE select that d2v file and re-encode to the correct dvd format, once the encoding is finished I'm left with the mpv and wav file, but when I check the mpv file it still has the same problem (as above)

    Can anyone help? any ideas?

There are lots of ideas in the guides to the left.
    Here's a clue : If it hurts , don't do it.
...it may not be necessary to join them

Yeh but that's no fair , re-encoding fixes everything
but has generation loss and takes a while.

I was thinking he wants a DVD so just author both.

But if he puts both videos on the same DVD, and the problems comes up when the DVD changes movies, what has he accomplished?

Because the Authoring doesn't have to run through
and change all the timestamps in the second half
to act like it was a continuous stream. I don't understand
exactly why that breaks A/V sync but I know of several scenarios
where a program might miss. one simple case is the audio
on video 1 is not a matching length. The join now screws up the
second one. Another is soft pulldown If the sequence is disturbed
at the joint the second half is not good.
Frequently the audio is delayed at the beginning of a MPEG.
The joiner mat not handle that.

anyway i've done several both ways . Joining first has a bad record with me

Don't bother Joining, there is no need. I have numerous SVCD's and VCD's made up of....er...short....clips...ya...that's it....clips. I don't think I could ever join them all and keep them in sync. Just re-do your audio and Author that DVD!

  8. ok after having read what you guys have said, it looks like joining them was a bad idea, ok so you say author both mpegs, ok which software do I use to author them? baring in mind I'd like to put a menu at the start of the movie I use DVDlab to create the menu but u can't author both mpegs I think only one movie file per session,

Try Video Studio. You can author both at the same time.

I think Gaz may have been making a subtle statement here
about a delay between the clips.

DVDlab: just stick both movies in there and put a link between
    movie1 and movie2
