i have an xvid mpg4 video file which plays ok in win media 9. i extracted the audio ok, but when i came to encode using TMPGen in the source range i could not get any video picture, only the audio. i have the codec installed on the computer according to g spot. am i missing something out?

You don't say what you did in Tmpgenc, so impossible to say.
Loads of threads are already going about problematic xvid conversions. If you do a search, you'll see what I mean.
I'd start back at the CONVERT guides "Xvid to (whatever you were trying to do)" and go over the step-by-steps again.
