For the longest time, my Apex 1100W refused to play any kind of burned DVD media. Doesn't matter if it were DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW.

I used Nero, RecordNow Max, DVDit! and several others.

What's the fix? Why do my discs now work?

For the first time last night, I used the TMPGEnc DVD Author burning utility, and the disc will play flawlessly in my APEX player.

    Just wanted to share.

I had the same problem with rewritable disks in my player, when burned with nero (I have no clue why only the rewritable - they sometimes played...sometimes not)

I have started burned the files with clonedvd, and now everything works flawlessly

Two. With about 3 more on the way.

Even if it's a fluke, that's two more than what used to work, which was zero.

    Very happy.

  6. I use Accus & they play fine on my Sony 500a, Panasonic E30, Apex 1500 & panasonic S35 & ps2. Need I say more?

    I use Nero 5.5.10 I think.

  7. Have 2 of the same players, and I have always used Paddus Disc Juggler with no problems.

lordsmurf, I'm a little confused now.
I thought you never had compatibility problems even with picky old players

The picky old players were a Samsung, Sony, Pioneer and another one... all friends and family with old stuff from the early days. Really picky. The Nero 5.5.10.20 made discs are flawless on them, which is something I couldn't repeat on other burns, including RecordNow a few times.

I've always considered my Apex as junk, and only bought it to play CD media and foreign-bought DVDs. It never played any burn at all, not from Nero, RecordNow, DVDit!... the list goes on. I use my Toshiba for my DVD burns.

Just by fluke one day, I tried the new TMPGEnc burning, and deciding to give the Apex yet another chance... and it actually worked.

This now opens me up to personal PAL DVDs, which is nice. In the past, all my PAL work was for other people. Now I've got stacks of PAL VCDs I can convert then toss out a few spindles.

    Make sense now?

This also appears to be a APEX-1100-only problem, and even then, may be a HACKED-version-only problem.
