Just read following article in the Dutch newspaper....!!!!
AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands
Philips and the Japanese Mitsubishi Media have developed a recordable DVD with twice the capacity of a standard DVD recordable.
The disc can hold up to about 8.5 Gigabytes and will be presented to the public this week in Japan.
This was announced by Philips today. The new DVD+R is just like the standard DVD+R disc playable in every standard DVD-player or DVD-ROM drives.
Philips used the dual layer method so that the new DVD+R can hold a 4 hour movie in DVD quality.
Philips Research worked 2 years on the technology to increase the capacity of DVD+R's. The first dual layer DVD+R recorders will be available shortly in 2004.
