I still blame the kid...if it wasnt for that, who know what could've happened. But I give props to marlins for coming back and kicking ass. Eight runs in one inning is no joke. Yeah, its down to one game and like you said, cubbies have a ton of preassure on them. It should make the game more interesting...we'll see. Who do you pick between the yanks and the sox for the world series?

    LMAO

Well i'm gonna be honest..i'm going for the Sox....but I think they absolutely had to win yesterday's game in order to have a chance at the series..now they need to take two striaght in N.Y. I am no serious baseball fan ..but I would "think" if they win today..then Pedro should be able to pitch in game 7..right? Because..remember...they had an additional, unscheduled day off with that cancelled game due to rain.

But IF the Cubs happen to win.....regardless of who they play..i'm going for them to win it all. Just like the entire country...lol..the Cubs are clearly the sentimental favorites...and i'd be going for them regardless of who they play. I just think they are seriously reeling now...and the fish gotta close the deal. Hopefully that will happen.

My friend told me that he was watching something and a die hard cubs fan(someone famous) was on the show....so the host said "are you gonna track him down" and he said "No, I think the city of chicago will do that for me"

Anyway...I'm rooting for the sox too, but I dont think they have a chance against the yanks.

Um...that makes sense, but I'm not sure. Clemens is way better than pedro anyway(even though he's retiring). Gotta go, I have five minutes to make it to class!

  4. Man..too bad for that guy..he didn't even go into work today because of death threats and fear for his life. His name got leaked out...damn the press......they could get the name of a headless guy in all black at midnight....they are something else....anyway..the leaked the guys name..so he isn't at his home..and they have no clue where he is at this time. That's great that the press is camped out on the guys home..no everyone in his neighborhood will know...and at best i'm sure he'll have major reconstruction to do on his home. I guess better that, then major reconstruction on his face and body.

Like I said though..I don't blame the guy....and what I find real ODD is that nobody has mentioned that every other fan to the right and left of that guy was ALSO REACHING OUT TRYING to catch the ball. So had the wind veared the ball one direction or the other....someone else would be the culprit. But I haven't heard anyone else mention that...and i've watched several different news casts.

    T-1 HOUR AND COUNTING! :P

They guy is 26 years old.

Although, I don't really blame him. I don't think there is anyone that would not have tried to catch it. He probably was focused on the ball and did not even notice a player trying to go after it.

Well..that game was not any ole' regular day at the ballpark game. I mean the Cubs haven't been to the World Series since the Dinosaurs were around....so you'd think all the fans would have enough sense to know to stay off the ball.

By the way, did the sox win today? Last time I checked it was the 7th and they were up by one. I'm doing a paper right now so I didnt catch the game...let me know.

  10. The Yanks just lost...the Yanks are in trouble. I disagree with you ...Clemens isn't as good as Pedro. And Pedro got beaten once in this series already....I can't possibly see that guy losing two straight. The Sox are gonna win...that's my prediction. The Marlins and the Sox! :P

It's over...it was good while it lasted.

If the sox go to the series, I'll have at least one team I've been behind the entire time

  12. Man, I am pumped the F**K UP!!!

YEAAAAAAA YEAAAAAAAAAA YEAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! WHAT'S UP NOW DEVANSHU? LOL....I told you we were gonna come back and win three striaght! I told you the Cubs were reeling! And the last two games we beat Prior and Woods ass! Beat them like illegitmate step children! WHEWWWWWWWWWWWW....ohh ..AND I WILL BE GOING TO AT "LEAST" ONE OF THE WORLD SERIES GAMES! Everyone is camped out outside the Marlins store in Little Havana right now for tickets tomorrow.....and as far as the other game...I don't think the Yanks will have much of a shot at beating Pedro twice. Pedro is definitely capable of pitching a 2 hitter or less. I don't think Clemens has much of a chance to beat him twice in a row.

And I really could care less which team makes it..they are gonna get their asses whipped just like the Giants and Cubs did. Nobody has a defense like the Marlins..and I don't care what sport it is...Defense wins championships! And how bout all those Cubs World series hats and shirts that were printed up...LMAO.......put that shit in the fire place....hahahaaaa........The Billy Goat is alive and well. I can see it now...the Marlins beat the Red Sox in 6 games in the World Series and

the paper says: MARLINS WIN WORLD SERIES BY DEFAULT OF THE CURSES!

HAHAHAAAAAA..........Oh, and as far as that fan goes...his name is Steve Bartman ...and a local hotel down here is offering that guy free airfare, and an all expense paid trip for THREE MONTHS! So Steve..buddy..if you are a member of this forum...c'mon down man....your safe down here. lol.....I LOVE IT......all those fans talkin' that shit..runnin' their mouth...the Cubs this and the Cubs that.....well....they can keep talkin' all that Jazz...........because they're gonna be watchin' the REAL TEAM ON THEIR TELEVISONS!

    WHEWWWWWWWWWWW....MARLINS #1 !!!

    1997 & 2003 WORLD CHAMPS! :P

Yeah yeah yeah...boast as much as you want. I gotta say, marlins earned it. I stopped siding w/ the cubs after yesterday. I dont care who wins the entire thing now...as long as its not the yankees.

Unless I am mistaken, we're down to a 7th game, anybody can be in it Series.

I gotta admit, I would love to see the Cubs and the Sox play it. Either of them could win it and I'd be happy, maybe a little more for the Sox, as I liked Tim Wakefield when he was our pitcher, wish they'd given him half a chance.

Then again, half the Cubs have been in Pittsburgh at some time. It'd almost be like we CAN at least raise ballplayers, even if we can't keep 'em.

If the marlins do take it, at least it would be won with a team that is paid chump change compared to Yankees, Braves, etc.

  15. A friend called me and said that they were giving wristbands to the first 2,000 people at the Pro tonight..I FLEW down there..it's about 10 minutes away..I got there in 5 and I was too late! 17. @ Devanshu, are you in Florida? This is really shitty...I got on ticketmaster.com at exactly 10:00 a.m ..that's when tickets started going on sale...thought I would get in....maximum number of tickets you could purchase was 6...so I put in for 6 tickets for best available....it put me in line..saying I had a 15 minute or longer wait...now this was damn near the second the tickets went online..and I have a Cable connection..so I figured i'd be in there.

I was trying to get 6 tickets for game three ..while another friend was trying to get 6 for game 5....that way we could go to at least one game...but hopefully two.....and like I said..I was in there the second they started selling the tickets...figured i'd get mine at lesat....

Well..I was wrong......there are 5 other disappointed people besides me because after about 15 minutes..the site gave some type of processing error. As soon as I went back in..it said the event was no longer availabe. Damn..if I could of just known about those 2,000 wrist bands earlier..I woulda been able to get first dibs. Now it looks like i'm gonna have to resort to scalpers....it's gonna be expensive..but not nearly as expensive if it were for the Cubs, Yanks, or BoSox in the World Series......

Tough break....It isn't going to be as easy as getting those tickets like I did for the Giants Game..and even the ones that came through for the Cubs game....which I didn't take....this is the World Series....gonna be tough but i'll get em' one way or another.

Wow...determination. No I'm not in florida but I would definitely make the trip for the world series if I had the money. About the tickets...that sucks. Its wierd...I've been a baseball fan for quite some time but I have never been to a major league game. Well, let me know how it is

okay, there's no way I'm reading all this shit....

    but.....

is this this NYC vs. Boston shit?

    Rounders?

Actually, it's probably the only unique US sport I could get into, if I understood it
    So, come on Boston

The only reason I posted because some guy called Fred Nutter has just been talking on sky sports news (UK) abut the game.

They stuck it in the middle of the footie (yes, footie, soccer, football).

    Come on Boston!!!!!!!

    Man, cricket is BORING!!!!!!!!!
I'm routing for the Red Sox, sounds like they've waited too long!
What was the deal with that fan catching the ball in the crowd (at that game which I don't know who played at!), that player sure looked pissed
Now, THAT was worth showing over here

It was game six of the Chicago Cubs and Florida Marlins. If chicago won, they would've gone to the finals(they've been waiting 58 years). What happened was, the Marlins player hit a foul ball and it went into the stands. Rules say that if you can catch it, the batter's out...the cubs third baseman(I think) was about to catch the ball when a fan interfered and caught it instead...which meant that the batter is safe. I know what you mean...cricket can get boring. I used to like it when I was young but grew out of it.

    Devanshu,

Hated to see the Cubs out of it, just because they are the Cubs. Would like to have seen them play BoSox, would have been ambivalent as to winner, either would have been exciting.
Am watching Sox-Yankees now, 6th, 4-1 Sox. Fingers crossed for the Sox.

"Our" Jim Leyland went to the Marlins with a contract that said if they were serious about fielding a team, he would manage. He got them a Series win, they decided one was enough, sold off all the players with any talent, Jim said screw you, I'm outa here, now he's a scout.

Marlins got this far on balls alone, as they are, I think, lowest payroll in MLB.

    Major League Baseball, Will.

Love it. Love it even more if Steinbrenner gets to go home after tonight.

153 million dollar payroll vs 20 million. Boston are not pikers, but would like to see them there.

    Will,

Have never seen a Cricket game, just the clips in Brit movies.

Baseball is not uniquely US. Most Caribbean nations play it, in nfact, most of our players come from way down south, beyond the US border. HUGE in Japan.

Since this is basically a movie/video site, go rent a couple movies, "Mr Baseball", with Tom Selleck, and "The Comrades of Summer", a play on our "Boys of Summer" sobriquet. Good movie, and you'll learn some of the tricks, as the imported US manager has to overcome a former Commie to teach the former Commies how to play the game the right way, rather than by the (Communist) book.. Good movies, both.

I think you'd at least like the game, not love it, as it's only really exciting when you get a close game. And, a "close" game here is 1-0, or 9-8, or something that a home run will wipe out the lead of. "Our" Jim Leyland was fond of saying you can't defend against a home run.

In "footie", a 1-0 lead with 2 well matched teams is a near insurmountable lead. I ssee that just watching my granddaughter in Under 12 League.

When her game was done Sunday, an over thirty league came on. Would like to have stayed to watch.. Most of them were immigrants from various countries, at least they looked to be, and asking a few ?s their dialect sounded as though they were. Nice guys, all I spoke to. Not too many home breds playing tho' I might be mistaken.

Ah, well, back to the game. By the way, Will, do they televise the "Series" in the UK?

Wells just came in and threw a first pitch HR to Ortiz. Looking good..

We might put an end to the "Curse of the Bambino"..
Gonna sign off, warch the rest of the game.

    Cheers,

    George

Devanshu, 8th, Martinez still in, 5-2, Clemens gone, Yankees just got another one, 5-3, Martinez might be gone, 115 pitches, pitching coach says keep goin, beats the hell outa some managers who put in a reliever, get creamed. Talk about exciting, shit book rule double, whole game is in jeopardy. Gotta stay awake.

Edit: Martinez just tied it up, gone, maybe the Bambino is still lurking about

For Will, in 1928, the Boston Red Sox traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees, never won another Series.

As an aside, if you see this, my Aidan just cut his first tooth, at 4 1/2 months. How's Daniel A? How is/are the to be nameds.
